You can't discount the cap savings in this deal if Danny knows a free agent is coming ( Hayward)

Here we go.

Worst case scenario... The SAC pick falls within the parameters of the protections. Would it just be nothing, or a Philly pick instead?

Sources: For top pick, Sixers planning to send Celtics '17 No. 3 overall pick, '18 FRP (via LA) and '19 FRP (via Kings) - w/ protections.

Woooooowwww. So it is their pick this year, the LA pick, and the Sacramento pick, though there are some protections. They'll have to be minimal, though. And at least one of those has to be fully unprotected.

Depending upon the protections, that's actually a TON of value for the pick, regardless of whether or not we should've done it.

If we get that package, and the protections are reasonable, I can buy into Danny's thinking.

If both of the first round picks are protected...this deal is pointless

I guess thomas just might be a max player now.

Celtics and Sixers trade is nearly there. Will set up Sixers to take Fultz, but most league execs say Celtics are not done dealing

And this being a precursor trade for Butler/George is looking more and more likely.

Hooray for trade assets.

If this is all to position us to trade for Butler or George then I gotta say ... I am not OK with this plan.

You do not give up the farm to try to fight the Warriors in the next 3-4 years.

That's insane.

If the Nets trade turns into an ill fated run at the Warriors and then we don't have anything to show for it in the 2020-2030 decade I am going to feel that Ainge has badly mishandled this.

Depending how protected the Sac pick is I could be ok with this.

If it's anything more than top 3 I feel like we lose the trade

I'm interested to see what are the conditions if either pick doesn't convey, as they aren't Philly's own picks.

Ugh.

If we trade a fist-full of top picks for a year of Paul George I'm going to be ill.

The Lakers pick is unprotected. This is great value, especially if Ainge preferred Tatum or Jackson over Fultz to begin with.

Probably values Butler over all and uses 3 to get him. Then gets the other 2 picks as gravy

Ainge clearly saw something he didn't like in Fultz.  I'm wondering what it is.

He loves hard-nosed players who've dealt with significant adversity in their life.  Like Smart or Leon Powe.

I don't know Josh Jackson's background, but I'm guessing that he is Ainge's favorite player in the draft.  Forget Lonzo Ball.

I take solace in 2 things:

1. They are professionals, generally above average ones

2. There is no way this is ainge in isolation; this must have the blessing of stevens and wyc too. I would love to hear the info ainge used to justify to wyc why they would trade away fultz, who should be a majorly marketable star.

Paul George is worth it. Butler is not.
