Lakers had interest in pursuing a deal for No. 1 pick/Fultz, but Sixers ability to potentially deliver 3 FRP's in deal too much to overcome.

This makes me think the deal is better than reported, or that one of Chicago/Indiana really wanted that Lakers pick for next year.

The third first round pick is the 2021 pick which will be heavily protected. The only thing boston gets is the Lakers pick next year which will be a very low lottery pick

Not at all guaranteed. It's doubtful that Danny does the deal in that case.

Fultz bombed his workout with Philly today. I was convinced that he's an elite prospect, but not so sure any more. Ainge has a questionable history of draft talent evaluation, but I'm willing to bet that they saw something they didn't like when Fultz worked out for us. Video of the Philly workout can be seen here: https://m.facebook.com/94wip

Apparently Fultz preferred to go to Philly, anyway. I'm thinking the #3 pick will get flipped for a star, and next year we will have 2 lottery picks in a draft with 4 elite prospects.

Sources: For top pick, Sixers planning to send Celtics '17 No. 3 overall pick, '18 FRP (via LA) and '19 FRP (via Kings) - w/ protections.

Why would Ainge give up control of the top three picks? Just pick Fultz on draft night, then trade him for the right deal.

Who is going to be available at #3? He doesn't care what the Fakers do?

Man if this isn't massive disrespect for Fultz and all the "experts" who have anointed him.

I have to go with the "planned big trade" as the only thing that explains this. Without this deal over the next three years Ainge has more picks than he has places on the roster.

Some GM wanted another first rounder? For who? This is the first step in "win now?"

Philly 17
LA 18
Bkn 18
Bost 18

Still not sure if this is real. He has control of the top picks today. Why give it up before draft night?

Danny is taking Tatum.... it is just so obvious. I dont know why yall so hooked on Jackson.

What makes you say that?  Why not, say, Isaac or Ball, etc?

Woooooowwww. So it is their pick this year, the LA pick, and the Sacramento pick, though there are some protections. They'll have to be minimal, though. And at least one of those has to be fully unprotected.

Depending upon the protections, that's actually a TON of value for the pick, regardless of whether or not we should've done it.

Well I have a hard time being excited right now but protections aside that looks like a good return.

If this is true, I don't mind Josh Jackson at all (or Tatum). Never got the hype watching Ball at UCLA though.

More first round picks that Ainge will never make

This better be step one in getting Butler or George

I still don't understand why we can't do this at draft night?

I really don't, unless future Danny Granger Jayson Tatum is really Danny Ainge's guy. But why pick Tatum over Markelle Fultz though? Absolutely disgusted.

The only thing that would redeem this is if we are indeed going to be able to get Jimmy Butler or Paul George, and be able to sign Gordon Hayward or Blake Griffin and the Lakers and Brooklyn picks become good, otherwise, this is going to be horrible.

It's really looking like we are passing on Markelle Fultz to either get Jayson Tatum or for the opportunity to get Jimmy Butler.

Unbelievable...

from the tweet, I thought it implied that both picks could have protections

The Lakers pick is unprotected. This is great value, especially if Ainge preferred Tatum or Jackson over Fultz to begin with.
