Celtics
Butler
# 3
2018 Lakers 1st rd pick (unprotected)

Sixers
#1
Mickey
D. Jackson

Bulls
Okafor
Bradley
Crowder
2018 Celtics 1st rd pick
2021 Sixers 1st rd Pick

Trading away Crowder, Bradley, Mickey, and Jackson, as well as swapping picks with the Sixers, will still have us in range to offer Hayward a near-max deal. We would also pick up a valued 1st rd pick next year.

Projected 17-18 rotation:
Horford
Hayward
Butler
Thomas
Brown
Josh Jackson
Smart
Zizic
Rozier
MLE Big Man

That's a team that offers a lot of scoring, defense, athleticism, flexibility, etc.

Do people think Billy King has taken over the Bulls?  We're not getting Butler without giving up at least the #3 pick.

Do people think Butler is going to net them a top 3 pick? A player who's fast approaching both free agency and age 30 isn't worth that. Grabbing Crowder, Bradley, local kid Okafor, and 2 1st rd picks is incredibly good value for Butler. That's more value than the Kings received for a superior player in Cousins.

Is Butler spending his summer flying away from Earth at close to the speed of light, and then back?

Otherwise he's 27 and has two more full seasons before he hits 30. He also has two more cheap years on his contract.

He's turning 28 before the season begins and has had some knee issues.
BTW...traveling at the speed of light would slow down aging. So you might want to revisit your idiotic example.

Cheap? He'll be at nearly 20M per, which I guess is cheap in comparison to what he'll receive in the summer of 19.

Oh yeah. I guess we'd all have to be flying away. Thanks so much for your thoughtful and polite correction.

The point stands though. He's two full seasons below 30 and has two cheap years left.

I can't remember the details, but my recollection is that the Bulls wanted a Brooklyn pick plus a vet (Crowder) at the deadline. Why would they accept so much less now?
