Why, if people are talking about trading the pick for anyone from Anthony Davis to Porzingis, hasn't anyone mentioned Nikola Jokic?

The kid is a beast.

Good point, as unrealistic as KP and AD is, people still talking about it.

Jokic is a BEAST. Maybe Zizic can become our Jokic  ;)

???

Do you believe Jokic is close to the player Zizic can become? That's like saying why sign Gordon Hayward when we already have Jaylen Brown?  Hayward had a PER of 22 whereas Jokic had a PER of 26 and he's only just completed his second season.

I'd do the 18 Brooklyn pick and some of our guards
Jaylen Brown for All-NBA

Because for all things he do, he's terrible rim protector. You would only trade the #1 pick for the most complete player available. Porzingis, Towns and Davis have the potential to be defensive studs. Nurkic is slow and I don't think he will be a threat on the defensive end.

Jokic does a lot of things at a really high level, but he's a horrid defender. I don't think he's the guy to put us over the top.

At this point I think I'd just hold onto the pick and pray that Fultz becomes a superstar.

While I generally agree with your statement, I want to point or we're talking about Jokic and not Nurkic.

I don't think Porzingis is remotely unrealistic.  He wants out of NY and the 1 pick is certainly a fair price, if not a mild overpay.

I do think AD is unrealistic, but the point of saying I want AD is to clarify how much most of us want to keep the pick.  If it'll get me Davis, sure, I'll trade it.  If not, no thanks, I'll take Fultz.

I love Jokic but his defence leaves quite a lot to be desired. Plus, do Denver do this? They have a tonne of solid young guards and a star big. Doubt they want to shake that up.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

I bet Denver would reject an offer of the #1 straight up for Jokic.

Despite whatever his defensive shortcomings might be, the man is supremely gifted on the offensive end.  Jokic is every bit as good of a passer as Horford and the Gasol's (probably will be better in his prime), but is also a very good rebounder and can flat out score the basketball in a variety of ways that fit into a modern NBA offense.

But I'd be hesitant about trading the #1 pick for just about anyone at this point, simply because Fultz does look like he has the skill set of a lead guard that can score and facilitate an offense at an elite level.  And the thing is, a lead guard or wing that has those skills is probably the most valuable type of player you can have in today's NBA.

Only if you think Jokic is better than the highly touted big men in the 2018 draft.  I really don't know the answer to that b/c I haven't followed that draft class yet.

I haven't seen him enough to know if he's a good defender or not, but his advanced stats all say he's pretty good.  DRPM, DWS, and DBPM are all really solid numbers.  He was 8th in the league in rebounding percentage.  His block % was average at best, but his steal % was pretty good for a big man.

What are you guys going by to say he's a bad defender? Have you watched enough film on him to come to that conclusion.
