The Turkish government has accused him of terrorism and issued and arrest warrant for him. This is a BS accusation basically stemming from his twitter activity speaking against the current government. Is there any chance he is extradited and goes to prison over this? The U.S. has a good relationship with Turkey, they may not be inclined to protect him.

I remember there being a story outlining how his father disowned him, or something like that (if my memory serves me well), but this has escalated to a level I don't think anyone anticipated.

I can't imagine him being extradited, but that may be more due to hope and concern for his safety than anything.

It would be such a strange situation, seeing a high profile athlete being convicted of terror charges. However, in this circumstance (due to Turkey's not so pristine record), a conviction would not indicate guilt at all.

Strange strange world we're living in.

and again, turkey's government is using "terrorism" as a political weapon, not a real concern over security. so many others stand similarly accused of this crime, not for their actions but for their words and thoughts.

and turkey's government is not alone in these manipulations.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Pretty much. A corrupt Turkish government that the US supports though. It will be interesting to see how this turns out.

There is no way he gets extradited, especially considering the guy who is accused of inciting the uprisings hasn't even been extradited.

His family disowning him is as much for their safety as anything else.

Turkey have a lot of leverage right now over Europe and by extension the US with the refugee 'situation'. Good time to be Erdogan

The BiG House in Turkey might not be overnight stay at the Hilton

I guess this means he won't represent Turkey in the Olympics ...?

Do you think the Kurds should have their own land. They seem to forgotten people and man they fight hard.
