And of course, a team not guaranteed to make the playoffs isn't going to attract a top free agent like Hayward.

Well, what if we could trade for George first?

Draft Fultz. Trade IT, Bradley, Crowder, and a non-BRK 1st to Indiana for George rental. Renounce all free agents, including Kelly. Sign Mlllsap.

Smart, Rozier
Brown, Fultz
George
Millsap, Yabusele
Horford, Zizic

If we used George as a PF...

Smart, Rozier
Brown, Fultz
Hayward
George, Yabusele
Horford, Zizic

I wouldn't feel as good about that lineup's rebounding and defense as the Millsap one, but it's still very good. In that scenario we've said goodbye to IT (and Bradley and Crowder) and we're...better, no? Overall?

Why on earth would IND want to do such a trade?  They end up with IT, Turner and journeymen role players?   And then IT possibly leaves them in free agency?

The only reason IND would be interested in trading for IT4 is if they could add him to Paul George and Miles Turner in order to try to convince PG to stay.

Because they know he won't stay, even if they added an IT? Because he's going to walk on them in a year and leave them nothing? Because they would have a better chance of convincing Isaiah to stay?

Why wouldn't they trade George for rebuilding assets then?   On what basis do you assert that they would have a better chance of convincing Isaiah to stay?

It makes no sense that they would replace one stud veteran who might walk away from them with another who has even less reason to be loyal to them.

The only kind of team that would be interested in trading for IT is going to be a team that wants him for a playoff roster.  And there are only a few of those that don't already have a starting PG.

Fultz= PG that can play the 2 and defend 1-3
Jaylen= SG that can play the 3 and defend 1-4

Too many posters on this board do not even know Fultz is a PG. The writer of the piece at minimum did a service to that crowd. Fultz is a dam good PG that has the shooting, skill, measurables, and ability to play the 2....but PG is the position he  dominates in.

Fultz also has a much higher floor than any rookie we have drafted in decades. So it's not really realistic to think Smart will play over him. Also, Jaylen will be playing over Smart and others next season IMO.

What team would offer more than Isaiah, Bradley, Crowder, and a 1st for one year of George? Make it two non-BRK 1sts. Who is beating that? Which team with rebuilding assets is going to offer more for a rental? All three players are still in their 20's, in their prime, at their peak even. Indiana may want to still compete for the playoffs and reload on the fly rather than completely reboot around Turner. They'd get three of the top 4 players on the East's #1 seed to add to Turner. Isaiah would be more likely to stay because of the extra money, and because he doesn't have stars in his eyes for LA like George.

You're wasting assets for a one-year rental of George.  He'll undoubtedly leave.

What if you also sign Hayward?  The team still loses in the ECF, and George may be even less likely to stay -- he did not want to play PF in Indy, he most assuredly wouldn't want to play PF in Boston.  Especially with how awful the rebounding and interior defense issues are.

If Indy trades George, they would be in a full-on rebuild seeking younger assets, not IT.  You've either overlooked that point, or assume their management is more dysfunctional than they are.
