If it is correct that the Bulls required Brooklyn 2017 in any Butler trade proposal with us, why would they exempt the Lakers from including their "Ball" pick?
firstoff, you dont know if thats correct. Second, because now you get half a year less of Jimmy Butler. Hes less valuable than he was a few months ago.

No way from the Lakers end.

They deal their last two #2 picks for Butler in hopes that they can convince George to go there  next year?

If George were a free agent this year, I could see this working for LAL since it would all be coming together at once; however, they are still going to suck in 17-18 with Butler there - I am not sure George is going to be clamoring to play for a pretty crappy LAL team after watching his potential future team fail.

Lakers should go after Melo to play the 4.

Deng, Clarkson, Black, Nance for Melo.
Russell and Randle for Paul George.
Ingram for Butler.

Moz
Melo
George
Butler
Lonzo

Now that's a bubble playoff team.

The only color that matters is GREEN

good point.

Russell and Ingram haven't lit the league on fire.  if I'm Chicago, If I don't get the #2 pick this year, that 'filler' in the deal better be Zubac, Nance and a future first at a minimum
Russell and Ingram are the two most recent #2 picks.  Boston didn't have an equivalent to that, so that is where this summer's pick came into play.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Butler isn't that great.

But he is.  It would be a great trade for the Lakers.  Butler is a 3rd team All NBA selection and will probably be first or second team all defense.  He's young, very good and on a great contract for the next 3 years.  His points, rebounding and assist numbers have gone up each year (1 year rebounding went down slightly).   Getting all around ball players on below value contracts rarely happens today. Plus he should be in his prime....
