Haven't had a chance to listen yet, but in a Bob Ryan Podcast posted today (Friday May 19) Jackie mentions that Ainge had offered Thomas in attempt to get another lottery pick last year.

Very interesting if true.

I recall recently hearing that the C's brass didn't expect IT to become as strong a scorer as he has, so I wonder if they would still make a move like this, especially after Al signed here.

Scary thought considering that last year's lotto didn't have anyone that shattered the basketball world really. Who did he want ? Thon maker? I wonder

I wonder if he would have packaged two picks to try to move up to #1?

My guess is the Sixers or Lakers
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Per this rumor sounds like IT4 may not be in Celtics long term plan

If it was a top2 pick, sure.

Otherwise, I'm not sure that I buy it.

Haven't listened to the podcast, so maybe they cover this, but when was this proposed trade offered?

To me it doesn't make sense to make the offer around the '16 draft.  Not only did IT represent the team at the lottery, but they also had plans to make a hard push for Durant/Horford.  No way they'd blow it up at that point for another draft pick.

2016 trade deadline?  Maybe, as the team was 4.5 games out of 2nd and 8.5 games out of 1st, while only 3 games out of 8th.

2015 draft/summer/early in the '15-'16 season?  This would seem most logical to me.  The team was still planning on bringing IT off the bench at this point.  Coming off that nice half season run, try to flip him for a draft pick a year out.  Sounds like an Ainge move.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Maybe he liked Buddy Hield.  IMO we could have gotten the 6th pick 4 Crowder easily. I actually posted that trade on here and added a Pelicans future 1st...everyone hated it lol.

If true, it's another example of how for Danny it's better to be lucky than good.

I can't really imagine the team trading it's only true star for a single draft pick though.

Everyone seems to think Bradley's the odd man out if we keep Fultz here; I have a sneaking suspicion it's actually IT we don't value as much. His game's not likely to age well and he's got a mega-contract coming up next offseason. As much as I like him I think we'll find a way for him to not be here for it.
