reached for Jayson Tatum. In fact, one could make the argument he is the stud from this draft. But you just cant go with anyone else other than Fultz at #1. Which leads me to...

Could Ainge target a trade down to pick 3 (76ers), 4 (Phoenix) or 5 (Sacramento) with promise that Tatum won't be selected?

Nope. Fultz is the best player and has the best upside.

Source on the Tatum speculation, please.

And no, he can't trade down and ask LA not to pick someone.

Sure you could make the argument. It just would be a really bad one.

I'm not sure why you think he's enamored with Tatum. Josh Jackson, in fact, fits into the mold of an "Ainge player" much more neatly. As for trading down, it would be a terrible mistake, but I'm sure any of the teams in the 3-5 range would gladly move up.

They'd really have to throw in some added goodies to make that worth considering for Ainge. Players like Saric from Philly, or Warren from Phoenix (no idea what else they'd throw in to try and make us consider it, although I realise adding another wing player in Warren isn't ideal).

Not sure why you rate Tatum so highly though

This is probably the most perplexing part of the post. How could one make this argument?

So what's the argument? How is he a stud?

If we had anything but the top #2 picks, Tatum may not have been there.  Grabbing Tatum at #2 even isn't a reach.

Tatum reminds me of Klay Thompson and in my opinion his game translates very well to nba.

Again, a source on the Tatum statement above is required.

BTW, I like Tatum as well but I don't see Klay Thompson in his game. I see more Paul Pierce.

No source, Granath. Pure speculation. But perhaps my interest comes through clearly given the hard line I take in the subject of the post. Sure I would be happy if Fultz is the selection. I would be equally happy if Tatum were based on this team's need.

Plus Dicky V thinks he should be drafted #1. Why even debate it further?
