Several teams reached out to the Knicks to talk about possible trades for Kristaps Porzingis, according to Ian Begley of ESPN.com.

You can't blame teams for asking, but I don't see the Knicks trading him.

Knicks might probably give away Porzingis if there are some desperate team who wants to acquire stars.

Honestly I don't want KP.  Maybe if the Nets pick landed at 4, which I assume would be involved in the trade talks.

I think we would have to give up a lot and his injury history (small sample size, I know) combined with his overall size worry me.  Guys his size are very prone to injuries and he has already missed time.

I don't think he moves the needle quite as much as we think skill wise either.

Have to think Danny was one of those who inquired.

I'd offer them the Brooklyn pick, the Clippers pick, and Crowder for KP and O'Quinn.

Then you try and sign Hayward. If not, then extend IT and/or AB, give the reins to the 3 spot to Brown, and fill out the rest of the bench.

With Hayward that leaves you with:

PG: IT, Rozier
SG: AB, Smart
SF: Hayward, Brown
PF: Porzingis, O'Quinn
C: Horford, Zizic

Without Hayward that leaves you with:

PG: IT, Rozier
SG: AB, Smart
SF: Brown, Yabu
PF: Porzingis, O'Quinn
C: Horford, Zizic

That is deal I could get behind.  I think they would certainly ask for more, but I like your proposal a lot.

Same here.  KP is an ideal big for our system.

I'd think we'd have to take some bad contracts or something too though...maybe even Carmelo yikes

I'd offer the Brooklyn pick (assuming it's 2 or 3 because I'm taking Fultz at one)+Crowder+Rozier+Yabu+2 of our lesser 2nds this year for Porzingis and New York's 1st (7 if they don't jump). They get to move up in the draft and pick up a veteran who's in his prime and on a team friendly contract (who they can flip for another lottery pick), a backup PG with starter potential and an intriguing PF prospect for their disgruntled star. It's not ideal for New York but I think that's the best offer they're going to get if they trade him on draft night. As for us we get to save some salary for Hayward and we add a young big man who's already a star and still get to draft relatively high in a loaded draft (I'd really try to move up a couple of spots by offering the Memphis and Clippers picks to pick De'Aaron Fox who I think is going to be a stud later on). So assume we do this and pick Jeanne with our minny 2nd. In FA we manage to snag Hayward and and get a few vets like David West to come. We resign KO with bird rights, going over the cap.
Lineup:
IT, Fox, Jackson
Bradley, Smart, Young
Hayward, Brown, Green
Porzingis, KO, Mickey
Horford, West, Zizic
Think that's a contender (guards are a bit suspect but I think fox can contribute from year one and we can always move Brown to SG and Smart to PG in the second unit if Fox can't handle the playoffs)
Jaylen Brown for All-NBA

Not yikes to me.....I think Melo and Zinger would be great. Present and future. Compete right now and later.

Maybe a S&T'd Olynyk (can that be done as a RFA?, does anyone know) who would be great for the triangle plus Zeller plus Crowder and Rozier and BK '17 and Clips pick and our '18 first.

That would be some lineup:

IT/Smart/DJax
Bradley/Smart
Brown/Melo
Horford/Melo/Yabs
Zinger/Zizic/KOQ

If we get #1 overall I think it's possible. Outside of that? Doubtful. Even then Phil would want both brooklyn picks.

Both picks + Crowder And I think you can get something done. I'd do that in a heartbeat. Porzingis is an IDEAL fit in Brad's system and for our team in general.

No suprise whatsoever here. If the Knicks are actually making him available then i'll be suprised.

I doubt they move him for less than a whale of an offer.

Who suggested it? I've been looking through posts trying to find someone suggesting that but haven't.

Only Smokeeye suggested so. I don't think many of us would offer BOTH picks.
