Only major UFA signing for this upcoming offseason

Lets say he is down to sign a 2 year deal with player option  (23 million per year...for 69 million in total) ...  a little discount to join the Celts

Would you be for or against this move?  (If for the move... what about the cap situation needing space to sign AB, IT4 etc..)

How much better would the Celtics be?

How would a lineup of Horford, Millsap, Crowder, AB, IT4 differ from a Hawks lineup that won 60 games a few seasons ago?

Millsap and horford played together in Atlanta and didn't accomplish anything. Why would we want to be a worse version of hawks team

Did that Hawks team bring 2 top 5 lottery picks off the bench?

That Hawks team didn't have an elite offensive talent like IT.  Their wings defenders can't compete with ours either.  You would be pairing Millsap and Horford on a much deeper squad with flexibility to grow going forward.  With that being said, I just can't get past the idea of giving max money to an aging Millsap.  Horford and Millsap would both decline together.  I guess you could consider it a bridge team while we wait for Jaylen, BKN17 and BKN 18 to develop.  I would vote no but I can understand why some people would be in favor of adding Millsap.

No way he signs a two-year deal, but Millsap may wind up being the best free agent that actually changes teams this summer. As such - yea, I'd sign him even though it's going to be expensive. He's a legitimately good two-way player who's made four consecutive all-star teams, made an all-defense team last year, and fits Stevens' system really well. If you could sign him and continue to push for a Paul George or Jimmy Butler trade - letting one of those guys do the 1a/1b thing with Isaiah while Millsap and Horford balance out a 3a/3b deal on offense as they age - you'd wind up being the biggest threat to Lebron's hold on the Eastern Conference since KG and Pierce aged out of contention. Maybe you're more of an ensemble contender like the mid-aughts Pistons than a juggernaut, but those guys still won a ring and almost got a second.

Milsap is really good. I think for one or two years, he would help us more than anyone else likely to be available, including Hayward and Griffin, but I don't see how he signs for only two years.

He is 1 1/2 years older than Al Horford, and his game depends on him being quicker than whoever he is playing against.

I say we go for Hayward, and if we can't get him, we keep the money for retaining Bradley and IT.

Bad idea - he's too old and would be greatly overpaid.

LOVE Millsap. Just a greta player who would be a great fit on this team.

HATE his age, which makes it unlikely the C's go after him. If he was 28, it would be a way different story.

I'm assuming at his age he's looking for one more big contract. I want no part in paying the back end of whatever that contract is going to be.

Also, no matter how different this team is from those Hawks teams, there is something about bringing him in that would feel like a retread of something that already didn't work. It's not quite accurate but it would be hard to shake that feeling.

So, no thank.

If he is the best you got and agree for 2 year deal you have to consider, otherwise no

On a 2 or 3 year deal, it's not the worst idea.

Celts may not have any better way to improve in the short term, and the long term improvement is likely to come down to the BRK picks anyway.
