Informed I'm among ESPN's layoffs. But basketball, as they say, never stops. To readers/viewers/listeners/countless colleagues ... grateful

That's actually B.S.

Really ESPN?? Man some of these people getting layed off are ridiculous.

How are Jemele Hill and Michael Smith still on ESPN???

And Mel Kiper and Todd McShay are on ESPN getting like 2/32 picks right in Round 1 of their mock drafts...  :P

Not sure what you have against Hill and Smith. They are both charismatic and thoughtful commentators, though I prefer Hill to to Smith. I do agree Stein is one of the good ones though.

She is the worst. I quit watching the 6 o'clock Sportscenter because of the new format.

Agree on the shortcomings of the preachy Smith & Hill show. Not going to end well.

ESPN is dually focused on entertainment and pushing a social agenda. Sports, and particularly reasoned sports analysis, is secondary to that.

What does he do apart from rankings? His rankings are more entertainment than insight.

Can't compare to Stephen A Smith. Smith gets viewers. That's why he gets the big money.

Yep, they have really gone downhill. Pretty much all of their programming is unwatchable. I honestly don't even know anyone who watches it for anything besides the occasional highlight.

Some of their worst programming is their three-hour Monday Night Football pregame coverage.

Watching the analysts try to hype those garbage games is just painful.

Most people I've seen comment on SportsCenter hate the 6pm show. Can't believe its still on air

Although correct, the reasoning for Smith and Hill is much simpler.  They have contracts that make it uneconomical to layoff presently.  Even though they ate some money short-term, these decisions were about bottom-line.  Keeping Windhorst over Stein is the proof in the pudding.
