This probably makes PG13 to LA less likely, at least in the short term.  Whoever takes over from Bird is NOT going to want their first move to be shipping out the team's best player.

Mike

Eh, from what I've read about the situation the opposite is true. Bird stepped down and Pritchard is taking over due to the impending rebuild (trading of PG), which they think Pritchard is more capable to handle than Bird.

Now that doesn't mean he's going to the Lakers, or that he even wants to, but the vast majority of NBA people are under the impression that PG is as good as trades before next season.

Clippers would be interesting.  Maybe do a 3 team trade where Jordan ends up at the 3rd team, George in LA, and Indiana with a guard, draft picks, or young players.  Maybe Portland for McCollum as Jordan would make Portland a lot more interesting (Nurkic not withstanding).
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Makes a lot more sense.

If you know he is leaving ,  the smart thing is get something out of him.  He might go cheaper than you think .....because he is only a lock to sign a long term with a few teams .

Indy is better getting some nice players and maybe 1 st rounder or two ....than letting him walk for nothing.  Pretty dumb.
