So who is the Thon Maker of this years draft?

last year the Bucks shocked everyone when they picked Thon Maker 10th, after a number of "analysts" predicted him falling out of the draft all together. Amazingly, he became one of the only rookies to play meaningful minutes in this years playoffs after a productive season.

Who can you see making a Thon Maker like leap up the draft boards in 2017?

Jonathan Jeanne. France.
PJ Dozier. South Carolina.

There won't be one.  Maker was a perfect storm of potential and mystery.

Also, I'm so happy the celtics have a top four pick so I don't have to listen to "fans" endlessly debate drafting a loser player because he could be the next Maker.

Harry Giles.  A year ago people expected him to be a top 3 pick in this 2017 draft, similar to Thon a year before the 2016 draft.

I say the easy answer to this would be Hamidou Diallo since he's essentially taking the same route that Maker did by going straight to the NBA from Prep School.


It seems like teams want to discourage this type of path since these guys can be tough to evaluate but at the end of the day when you could be getting one of the most high caliber draft prospects in the late lottery it's hard for teams to really say no.

This. Add in the fact that he was viewed as amazing for years before the draft due to his highlight videos, and his jump wasn't surprising. The bucks are lucky he looks more likely to pan out than not. I was high on Maker, but no way I would have had the stones to pick him before 15.
