In a scenario where we've traded a combination of our wings + picks for Paul George, would we have any interest in Redick? There would be concerns over the defensive ability of our back court I imagine, but the entire complexity of our team would have changed with the assets we had to give up for George.

He'd certainly benefit playing alongside IT, we have Bradley run off of screens a lot in our current system. He is almost 33 which would be a concern.

I like Redick and would love to add him to that scenario. Redick is actually pretty good at defense if I remember correctly. I mean I haven't watched a lot of his games this year but my recollection is he is pretty good. He would be a great offensive option on the 2nd team.

Yeah, I'd be interested in Redick. He would stretch the floor like we'd need. Still have Smart, Jaylen and someone like P.George or J.Butler to provide defense. Enough size/athleticism/defense there to work around the size/athletic disadvantages of Isaiah and Redick.

I Kinda like him but I feel like he has big ups and downs. Maybe because there are too many scorers around him with the Clippers. But I doubt he could score consistently.

He defends well but I don't think defense is what we lack in our team. At least in guards. If you want to add defense, do it with a big.

Absolutely not.  JJ will be getting 16-19 mil... you want to pay that for someone who is just a shooter.. can't create and cant defend, cant pass and cant rebound.

No thanks.

He will be 33 in about a month. I wouldn't want to sign him for more than a year given he had limited athleticism to begin with.

No thanks, he's going to get PAID this summer, to the point where signing him would have serious team-building implications over the following year or so.

Yes, and I'd much prefer Bradley. However some insist that Avery is going to get traded because it would be ludicrous to actually pay him his worth and he's obviously going to be traded for a guy like Paul George so the Pacers can pay him instead.... so I was having a think about how we could replace his output in FA. Redick probably turns out to be as expensive as AB anyway so I doubt it would come around in reality.

Adding a shooting specialist limited to playing one backcourt position really isn't a priority for this team right now.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

I'd disagree given his specialty but I believe you are in line with the C's view on this. Not their kind of addition.

Depending on what we are giving up for George, why wouldn't we sign Hayward instead and play Hayward at the 2. I am assuming you are giving up AB and Crowder plus the 2017 pick to get George. So Sign Hayward, then trade the player Indy wanted in the draft with AB and Crowder. You have:

IT/Smart/Rozier
Hayward/Brown/Smart
George/Brown
Horford/Yabusele
Zizic

Maybe use the room exception to sign a vet center to start and bring Zizic along slowly until he proves he can start, which he probably won't do his first year here. Trading Nader and Rozier and a future first could also get a vet big to add to the team.

That is certainly a possibility. That's a very steep price to me though. And it makes it necessary to sign Hayward in the summer, we cannot just assume he would come.
My initial thought was based on a Paul George trade taking us out of the max fa market. Say it's Crowder, Smart and Nets 17 for example. Obviously still steep, we'd still have a gap in the backcourt that would need filling

Pointless thread.  All this team needs are quality bigs now.  We have plenty of guards and wings and we don't need any more because in all likelihood we will be drafting another guard. Let's talk about big men.  Dispense with AJ and Zeller, to start and get at least one big that can play.  That is step one in my mind.  Any new guard brought in does nothing for this team.
