Yay or nay?

If yes, who would you choose with the 8th pick?

Even if we end up with the fourth pick, I'd say no.

This question was asked at draft time last year as well. That was dropping from the 3rd pick to the 8th. That was panned. This is a slightly stronger draft but also a stronger pick. I don't think WCS is enough of a difference maker, he has always been a role player to me and you don't trade potential stars for role players (see our trade struggles the last few years)

Why I propose to trade for a guy like wcs is because of his wicked athleticism/defense

Dallas, SA Spurs were able to beat lebron because of guys like Chandler and Leonard....

You cant just beat Lebron matching offensive firepower for offensive firepower.... You need to also stop/slow him down down the stretch...

no.  not even close to fair value for the C's.  trading a potential franchise cornerstone with the Nets pick for 2 guys that will likely be role players.  WCS may be a decent 3rd big man off the bench within a year or two but the #8 pick in this draft will be lucky to be a rotation player off the bench.

I'll take my chances with a top 4 pick this year where the top options look to be starter-quality or better within a few years.

WCS's defense isn't all that great. He is more like Dalembert than Tyson Chandler.

Awareness, focus, reading the game, communication with teammates. Defensive BBIQ.

I think WCS will be an above average defender but I don't think he will ever be an elite defender because of those areas.

No for me. The Nets pick is too good an opportunity to land an All-Star talent to trade down for two good starter level talents.

I wouldn't even do this trade if Boston dropped back 1 draft slot let alone at least 4.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

maybe if you threw in the King's 1st round pick for the next 3 years.

It is so hard to forfeit a chance of drafting a potential allstar/franchise player. Lets get that no.1 first.
