All sorts of options if this went down. We could still sign Hayward and draft say Jackson.

 Horford
 George
 Hayward
 Jackson
 Thomas

How's that for a big small ball lineup and that's still with  Smart and Brown in the mix.

 Or we could go

 Horford
 Milsap
 George
 Fultz
 Thomas

That team is a title contender year one. It's a shame Milsap is old but Hopefully Yabu is the next generation.

I love the second idea.

Horford, Zizic
Millsap, Yabusele
George, Brown
Smart, Fultz
Thomas, Rozier

Strong defends, much score, wow facilitating.

I like the first team... I voted for the trade.

Which is pretty much the point of accumulating assets and preserving cap space.

  • STAND FIRM, SAY NO TO VIBE MEN
Subtract Bradley and replace the 18 pick with the 17 pick
Jaylen Brown for All-NBA

I'd do this trade in a heartbeat. I love AB and, to a lesser extent, Crowder, but we're getting a massive upgrade with this deal. And with Jaylen Brown staying put and George added to the roster, Crowder is much less of a necessity. And that Brooklyn '18 pick has nowhere near the same value as the '17 pick does in my mind, as we have no idea how the Nets will do next year. What if they pick up where they left off at the end of the season and win 30 games? The '17 pick is much more of a sure thing, so if Danny can hold on to that and Jaylen Brown and still get Paul George, that'll be an amazing move for us. Depending on what other moves we make this offseason, we could be legitimate contenders next year.

Several factors at play here include whether or not Danny feels we can re-sign George when his deal is up, whether the Pacers are okay trading him away and whether or not Indiana can get more in return for him. I don't think anyone not currently working for the C's or Pacers can definitively answer either of the first two questions, but I doubt Indiana can get more in return for George unless we're the ones that offer more.

How could we still sign Hayward in free agency after that trade? We will already struggle to open the necessary space, making a trade where we take on money makes it even harder. Milsap's max is higher than Hayward's as well.

So the teams wouldn't look like you describe. You'd have to send the Nets 17 in this trade instead of the Nets 18.

Would I make that trade? Tempting for the upgrade in talent but no not without George agreeing to an extension, which I doubt he does.

Well for example you could send Avery, Crowder, and Zeller. 22.5 million out and 18 million back for George.

For example, no.  In order to sign Hayward, Zeller has to be released.  Getting George for your proposed deal means you add $5 million to our payroll next year, when we already need to subtract a few million after releasing Zeller (and letting all the free agents walk) in order to sign Hayward.

I would fall over myself if I am Ainge to make that deal. Draft Fultz, and call it a day after adding a rebounder.

IT/Fultz (or start Brown initially)/George/rebounder/Horford

Would be so much fun. Or a death lineup of IT/Fultz/Brown/George/Horford.

George told his teammates he wants to play for the Lakers. Why risk your assets for a guy who clearly doesnt want to come here?

So basically, we're just going to buy an nba title

A few ways you win a title.

1. You draft well get the couples stars you need build around.

2. You trade assets for players currently better than the ones you're sending out.

3. You use CAP space to bring in stars and build around them.

Pretty much if we trade and sign players this summer we'll do ALL OF THE ABOVE.

Also, didn't we pretty much trade for Allen and KG in '07/'08? Wouldn't that be "buying" a championship?Or does that not count for some reason.
