He is completely out of the rotation at this point, and I don't see him taking mins away from Green for the rest of the playoffs.

# 3 overall pick should be able to contribute something, but anyways, does he lose trade value from his playoff no show?

I don't think so, I think for a team like the Celtics, they are happy with his progression, but at the same time, the Celtics really wanted to win, so this is not the time to let him make mistakes and grow from it. Because in the playoffs, every possession matters, even more so compared to the regular season

He's a rookie in his first playoff atmosphere. He probably didn't realize how much the intensity picks up and each possession means everything. His rookie mistakes couldn't be tolerated when we went down 0-2. I think we'll see him again in the series or next series if we move on. He's a quick learner.

At age 20? Not really. Being #3 doesn't mean that he should be expected to be a better option in the playoffs than a veteran.

I expect him to re-emerge the longer the Celtics play.

No.

1. Teams knows coaches don't play rookies much in playoff
2. Brown played better than Ingram during season

No...he's been pretty good in the second half...and he's flashed some serious potential...and he was the third pick.

Al that is enough to sell to a fan base.

Why do we want to trade him?

Nah, I don't think he's lost value.

From my observation, he's not getting minutes because he's making too many mistakes in the team defense.  It's not a long-term problem.  Just something he needs to work at.

He'll be fine going forward.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.

Exactly.
The regular season is where mistakes are allowed and forgiven to an extent. The value of each possession goes up so much in the playoffs that Brown's shown a bit too much liability on the defensive end guarding the perimeter. His close outs have been awful and we can't afford Mirotic to get hot.
Rozier's D and off ball movement have been excellent and Gerald Green has been just as focused.

He will probably see more minutes vs the Wizards and given a few chances but will be yanked again if he doesn't work on those closeouts.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Its NBA playoff basketball, this is easily the most intense basketball he's ever played in his life. He's never played against this talent level playing as hard as they are in the environments they're playing. He'll be fine. Its the first time he's ever experienced it and his work ethic and talent level suggest that he'll work his way to that level.

Not one little, itty, bitty, tiny bit. He's a rookie in the playoffs.

But why would we want to trade him?

For Paul George/Jimmy Butler type. Not saying give him away
