"He's a good actor... He's not really about that life," said Butler after the game.

*For the record: Jimmy Butler stars in Mountain Dew ads where he squints like a tough guy in a convenience store. He acts in the 'argyle sock monkey' nba commercial. He also loves singing Taylor Swift. And while his childhood seems very tough, by the end of high school he was in a fortunate situation akin to Michael Oher's...

Smart went from 'dead or in jail' to Oklahoma State's selfless general

Butler is no pushover but I don't think he wants any part of Marcus when it comes right down to it.

I assume Butler is just trying to get into Smart's head, get him to do something to maybe get himself tossed or at least a technical foul.

If true, that means, of course, that Smart is already in Butler's head.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Psychological warfare. He needs to get inside our guards heads some how and he knows Smart can get emotional.
Our coaches/team mates will communicate this to him (although he already knows this is straight psychological/baiting trash talk and Marcus won't buy anything to it.

Smart and Bradley have been doing an awesome job on him in the last 2 games. Only way he's scoring is getting to the line or in switches vs IT.

Jimmy Butler is pretty tough, but when it comes down to it, these guys know that Smart is from the deep hood and he has been through 'that life' more most of his life. It's where he gets his toughness and credibility from.

Jimmy Butler ain't about that life.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

...Jimmy Butler is playing worse by virtually every statistical metric in this series... ...or, he has been guarded by Smart and has disappeared under the pressure. I even think those points are garbage time points.

45.7% is league average FG% this year; (Butler is at 40% for the series)
35.8% is league average3Pfg% this year. (Butler is at 23.5% for the series)

Butler isn't about that life lol Smart grew in the hood. Anyways I expect Smart to explode in game 5 in a very Marcus Smart way. Let's go C's!

Marcus is the last Celtic I'd antagonize on or off the court...you'd better bring your lunch, your gonna be there a while.

I think Marcus' nickname should be 'Hulk'.

He is a human hulk and he would eat Butler alive.

It is so cool to see that Marcus is in Jimmy's head.

In my imagination, Marcus is just in his ear like "Yeah, I don't throw my teammates under the bus, and then pretend we are boys when things start to go good."

Marcus Smart is pretty much the only enforcer on this team. Crowder maybe? I hope Smart locks Butler down next game!

I think Bob Ryan got it right when he called Smart a Junk Yard Dog.
