The greatness of his play and Lebron's personality are two different things.  I love watching him play and recognize his greatness, but I don't care for him personally and I always root against him.  That's not hating greatness.

I too think he is a diva and the decision was one of the classless acts i can remember but why is his personality more important and you'll always root against him because of that ?

Totally disagree!

I remember hearing about an SI photo shoot he did with the photographer that did MJ and all the other super stars in all the sports and after that I hated the guy more. According to the photographer LBJ shows up with a caravan of 20 or so people blasting music the entire time. The photographer was not allowed to speak to LBJ directly he had to speak to his buddy even though LBJ was standing right there! The photographer went on to say he has NEVER experienced that in his career from anyone!

LBJ can rot for all I care!

It's funny how people are still attacking him for the decision which, let me add, was 7 freaking years ago. Besides the fact that he donated proceeds from it to charity, LeBron did admit that it was poorly done and he regrets how he went about it.

Look I love my Celtics, and I hated LeBron after going to Miami. But I respect the hell out of this man. He came back to his hometown and delivered a city its first title in a few decades. He makes everyone around him better, and is 10 times the teammate Kobe or MJ ever were. Not to mention, he's a model citizen with no off court incidents whatsoever. He seems to be a great husband and father.

Yes I hate him when he plays the Celtics. But this guy could potentially go down as the GOAT. I'll be telling my kids how great LeBron was even though I couldn't stand him at times (my dad did the same to me for Wilt and Magic). Appreciate greatness because who knows when we'll see it at this level again.

Also, Draymond Green is way more hateable, along with KD the coward and dirty Zaza. I'm hoping the Cavs beat the Warriors.

In fairness to LeBron, posts like this are why a lot of people don't like him.  Can you imagine someone in the 90s lecturing Knicks fans on how they MUST like Jordan?  Or how about CONSTANTLY telling Bucks fans in the 80s they have to "appreciate" the greatness of Larry Bird?

There's just something about his style of play and his demeanor that have made it impossible for me to like him.

It's not rational, but sports fandom isn't supposed to be.

He's the best player in the world.

#2 All Time

By most accounts, a good guy off the court in the community, not a troublemaker, family man, etc.

But I loathe him.

Yes  he's a diva, most (not all) superstars are, I get it.

But his antics, the whining, entitlement, the back handed comments when he doesn't win or get his way, the pouting and ripping off his jersey, "The Decision", the turning his back on D Wade and the Heat for greener pastures, the jumping up and down flapping his arms when someone breathes on him, the lack of "the killer instinct" and his front runner mentality.

He's scared to fail.  If they are down with the final shot, he passes. If they are tied, he takes it.  I'll never forget the all star game when it was LBJ vs Kobe at the end of the game.  LBJ was too scared to take the shot, passed it up and lost the game. Kobe was yelling at him to take the shot!  Telling him to "Man Up" and live and die with the results.  LBJ can't, never had it, never will!  Just like in game 4.  The Cavs were down, LBJ couldn't get anything going, was in foul trouble.  Kyrie brought them back.  Once it was tied or they had a lead, LBJ starts taking deep three's, flexing and looking into the crowd.

What a jamoke!

These are the many reasons I don't like him.

The Warriors are the most talent stacked team in history. They are leading the playoffs in team assists per game at 28.

Cleveland averages 22 assists per game.

Maybe this can shed some light on why I have a hard time enjoying the Cavs.

That plus the demeanor of LeBron and Kyrie. They just read as villains to me.

I find the contrast between him and Jordan to be quite interesting.  They are so very different personality wise.  Lebron is a good man, a family man, and gives to good causes.  Jordan is a jerk at almost every level.  Yet, Jordan is more liked.  Why?... because he is the ultimate alpha male who could not care less about what people think of him while Lebron is a beta trying to act like an alpha and desperately cares what people think of him.

A couple of examples.

Lebron donates new uniforms to his high school football team. It probably cost ten, twenty grand, maybe more.  A very nice thing to do, but not a meaningful amount of money given his wealth.  How does he go about donating them?  At an outdoor stage with fire works, a light display, stage filling with smoke which when it clears reveals Lebron posing on the stage like a statue wearing one of the uniforms.  It was a nice thing he did, but so lame.

Meanwhile Jordan generally gave nothing to charity.  Instead, he would blow money at a casino, drinking a $500 glass of scotch, smoking a $200 cigar, with body guards keeping common folk away from him.

Who's nicer?  Lebron.  Who's cooler?  Jordan.

Lebron wears lenseless glasses and leather pants while carrying a man purse because these things were trendy for about 5 minutes.  Jordan couldn't care less about trends and wears classy taylor made suits.

Jordan would tell refs when they were wrong.  Lebron whines to them while making facial expressions like that of a 5 year old throwing a temper tantrum.

Lebron is a much nicer person, but Jordan is so much cooler and therefore will always be much more liked.

I like him at the start of a game .....but the whining and flopping gets to me and I end up still disliking his game.....which is enhanced by the refs.  He can't seem to just play ball n the court .  The NO Mass deal in SA was icing on the diva cake.

Off court he seems pretty much a good guy and family man.

he is a whiny crybaby. sounds like maybe some here should go pull for the cavs. I despise all the lebron bandwagoners who have no team and follow him everywhere he goes. THis thread is a epic fail.

Too bad Johnny Most wasn't still around.  He always used to complain that Rick Barry believed he never committed one foul during his entire NBA career. Barry's got nothing on LeBron in that department.

A couple of issues with the charity thing:

1. Jordan does give to charity.  See here, here, here, and here for just a few examples.
2.  Even if I couldn't provide examples of Jordan donating millions, you should never judge somebody by what they publicly give or don't give.  Remember donations can be made anonymously.  Plus you always have to wonder about celebrities.  In your example did LeBron donate $30k in uniforms for a $100k of publicity?

I can give you reasons why I do not like any other player from any other team.

1. They don't play for the celtics
2. They don't play for the celtics
3. They don't play for the celtics

Just because I don't like them doesn't mean I hate them or don't respect them.  I just don't like anyone that does not play for my favorite team.  The only exceptions to this rule are former celtics like Pierce, KG or Rondo.  Someone like Ray Allen falls into the above rules.

after the garbage officiating we witnessed and protection of diva players for years i refuse to watch any other games except celtics. There is a reason the NBA is by far the worst pro league and it is not even close. shame on them. they really need to pay a price.

Umm ...

1) he's a diva
2) he's protected by the league
3) he acts like he's fouled on literally every play
