This will go down as the pivotal moment in Ainges career. The day he passed on a top-five player in the NBA and a player who could end up being the best player in the NBA in three years. The Greek Freak.

This is why you draft boom or bust every pick you get, until your team is almost complete. Then you can draft role players like Olynyk.

Even though you know Kelly will be a rotation player guaranteed, you still take the guy with a 50% bust chance, and a small chance that the guy becomes all world like Gianni's has.

Way back then in 2012 people were calling him a Scottie pippen type. Brady went pick #199 in the NFL draft.

Going fifteenth in the NBA draft and if he becomes the best player in the NBA that's a similar type steal in NBA terms.

The kid is everything the Celtics need right now.

nah, pick 199 becoming the greatest of all time does not equate to pick 15 becoming one of the best players in the league and Im not jumping the gun and calling Giannis the future best player in the league.

Danny can't win any argument with you. First you blame him for not getting Ibaka and Tucker. Now the Bucks demolished the Raptors, you're recycling the old "Danny missed on Giannis" line.

But no, Danny is the only one who missed on the greek freak ::)

Marc Gasol!

also failing to tank and acquire Michael Jordan was egregious. Did we win a ring that year? sure we did, but if Danny had injured Mchale and bird and then sucked himself we would have won 10 titles in the long run.

shorsighted to win it all that year.

Geez Louise, has any horse ever been beaten this long and this thoroughly?  ::)
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

There's a "trade Smart for Okafor" thread around here somewhere...

It's true though. That was his one opportunity to grab a game changer.

Trading Chauncey Billups and Joe Johnson were also true. Time to move on.

Ainge has succeeded in an earlier Brady moment when he brought us a title.   He is playing the long game but his inaction this off season was maddening.

The kid is everything the Celtics need right now.

Top NBA forwards younger than 28 years are:

Kawhi Leonard -                15th pick
Giannis Antetokuonmpo - 15th pick
Jimmy Butler -                  30th pick
Paul George -                    10th pick

They were drafted at the average spot of 17,5 pick. All are studs, and you can make a case that the 17th non-lottery pick is fairly obtainable each year. That said, you can argument that all 30 GMs made at least 3 huge blunders within this decade, that they would happily correct.
Draft and talent evaluation is not an easy task.

The irksome issue with GA is that Danny actually flew to Greece to scout this kid. People compared him to Magic Johnson but a lot of naysayers said he was merely doing this against inferior competition. He was on Danny's radar, he just could not pull the trigger.
