The job of a good GM is almost like a politician. If done properly you won't be around to enjoy the plans you've laid.

Looking at 76ers, all of the pieces they've garnered was because of Hinkie, but Colangelo will reap the benefits.

Ainge desires to build a dynasty not just a one season contender. This comes with patience and instilling a positive culture within the organization. It takes availability to the right players at the right time.

Ainge doesn't make players available and sometimes we have to take a step back to make two steps forward.

If he does nothing again next year he should be fired. Marcus Smart was a 6th overall pick and what has he done? He sucks and if Ainge who sucks at drafting  stays with the draft this team will continue to suck.

Have you taken another look at the 2014 draft class... it really wasn't that exciting outside of Wiggins and Gordon. So to get a strong rotation player out of a weak draft is good.

You need to go take a look, Randle,Lavine and Saric have been much better than  Smart. And guess what? They were taken after Smart. Smart can't shoot a basketball to save his life. He is a good defender off the bench and those players are a dime a dozen. Ainge missed on that pick like he usually does in the draft. Go look at Kelly soft as tissue Olynk, another terrible pick by Ainge. Since he  sucks at drafting he needs to trade the pick coming up because chances are he will pick another dud.

(1) Randle was taken before Smart
(2) If you think Zach Lavine is better than Smart you either are under heavy medications or only watch dunk contests.
(3) Putting Olynyk in the same breathe as tissue paper is insulting to the tissues. I'll give you that one.

Randle was the 7th pick Smart was the 6th. Lavine averaged a little over 18 points per game Smart can only dream of scoring 18 points in one game never mind averaging 18 per game.
Oh i guess your right on randle. Hes ok but undersized i would probably still keep smart for his defense. Also tonight he a much better +/- than thomas, bradley, horford, or crowder. He actually played well. Lavine puts up numbers on a bittom dwelling lottery team. If lavine towns and wiggins are so good why do the twolves stink?

should both be on the hot seat next year. Enough with this this BS of assets if Ainge can't help the team then he should be fired. There were trades to made that helped a big time flawed roster and he sat on his hands. Skippy Magoo Brad Stevens can't win a playoffs series next year then he should be fired as well. Both of them right now are a big embarassment  to Celtics basketball.

100%.

Yes, I absolutely acknowledge that Danny Ainge made some amazing moves (and some lucky moves, but still..) to get the Celtics where they are right nw.

Yes, I absolutely acknowledge that Brad Steven's coaching most of the time has a bit amount to do with why our regular season records have been so positive the last two seasons.

But just because somebody does good things, it doesn't mean you can ignore it when they make critical poor decisions that cost you success.

Ainge passed up some game changing trades.  Brad Stevenshad made some illogical rotation decisions in these playoffs that have made no sense at all...and now we're likely going to be the first #1 seed in years too lose to a #8 seed in the first round.

Somebody has to take a blame for that.

Boston's obsession with signing limited-talent guys based entirely on their intangibles (personality, mainly) has taken them nowhere.  Sometimes you need to take a chance on risky guys who have high talent.  It worked out with Turner, who was a huge reason for our success last year despite his low cost

Guys like Horford (nice, polite, easily coachable guys who are a nice locker room presence) are great, but if you want a presence like that you should sign a guy like Vince Carter or Andre Miller to a min contrat to give you solid veteran minutes off the bench - you don't give $30M to a guy like Horford just because he's a nice guy.

We need more than a 14/6/5 return on our $30M investment if we want to get passed the first round.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
THE SKY IS FALLING FIRE AINGE!
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

When did this came from? We just paid Horford his market price to get leverage with the KD sweepstakes (which flopped). Danny signed Zeller, Jerebko and Amir as cap fillers. Them being good-natured guys just happened to be their personalities. He of all people, know this team not only need talent but guys who will do the dirty job (Smart, Perkins, Posey, Tony Allen) to win it all.

I assure you that majority if not all of them will be gone on the next year's roster alongside KO.
