Verdict is in. One of the stupidest choices Ainge has made in the draft.
A pick that nearly everyone was furious over for good reason.

We may lose this series because of it. Horford, Portis, Amir, Kelly, would be a nice Frontcourt.

Rozier gets no minutes, he's the Last thing we needed, but Ainge had to have his Binky.
Portis was easily the best player on the board.

 Terrible.

One good game doesn't make a player. Portis has been pretty terrible.

Rozier pick continues to mystify me.

Not sure why Ainge thought he had a better chance of becoming a rotation staple for this team than a wing or a big.

Classic CB overreaction.

Rozier isn't actually my favorite, but c'mon. It's too early to judge their careers.

Portis has had a pretty awful career. But yes, one night means he's a hall-of-famer.

I have, thanks for noticing.  let's see if he keeps it going the rest of the series.  to be fair, the majority of his time in the league hasn't exactly been stupendous

Rozier is awful. I don't know why people keep giving him a pass on here.  That said Bobby Portis hasn't been very good either.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

sure.  wasn't on the Dunn train this year -- we differ there.  didn't have a strong feeling for Brown but thought Dunn was overrated.

didn't want KO - wanted Dieng.  I think Dieng would give us better D and rebounding but offense is not as good.

wanted Smart considering who was left at that point -- got him.  pretty satisfied with him but would be happier with better shooting.

how about you?

Difficult for me to say because I 100% wanted us to draft Bobby Portis but I don't fault Ainge because he had a plan for which positions to draft and when. Portis was probably viewed as a poor fit for the culture of the team and passed over to keep locker room stability in tact.

So it's not really Terry vs. Portis but BPA versus "the plan". The stability of the plan has got us the first seed in the East but a hard nosed, talented guy like Portis might have been the difference in this team's toughness gap.

The old Celticsblog wait for guy X to do well then bash Ainge for taking X in front of him like you and everyone else just knew all along.

I wish we could compile a list of all these comments and see how they end up saying they wanted to take like 5 different guys ahead of "Celtic X" depending on who did well that given week.

Keep flailing. That's the only amusement I find in being right about the vastly overrated general manager of the Boston Celtics.

Again.

This one is s a venal sin, however, given Ainge's long mediocre draft history.

The real sin is the steaming dump he took on this team by not acquiring a rebounder at the deadline.
