The reason why athletes train all summer is to be in basketball shape when the season starts.
In this day and age, you can't simply pick up where you  left off a few years earlier.
There wasn't enough time for Sanders to get ready.  By all accounts, he wasn't in bad shape, simply not game shape-which is why he was sent to the D league.


 I don't see Mickey or James Young as players that will prove to be invaluable in any playoff series.

 Sanders is not a stiff. He's just not NBA ready- for the role that the Cavs need at this time.
So you are right, for all the wrong reasons.
