Where did the C's pick on the 4th?

To me, it was important that the Nets finished with the worse record to ensure the C's pick no worse than 4.  This gives them, IMO, Fultz, Ball, Jackson, Tatum.

Spot on. No way they take Monk over Tatum. They're getting one of those 4 and that's not a bad problem to have.

At this stage I think there is no real consensus about the order of those four players except that Fultz would likely go #1, and even that is no lock. I can easily see Jackson or Tatum going #2, and Ball going 4. I can also see Ball going #1 depending on who gets the first pick.

Really hard to say if Monk is another James Young or another Devin Booker.

Agreed, but that level of doubt is not what you want with a #4 pick.

A certain ranking system projects him as a potential superstar.

I feel like im missing something, but what is this?

Anyone? is there actually a ranking system with these kinds of projections?

I totally agree.

To me #4 is Tatum, or Jackson if for some reason he isn't taken in the top 3.

My only hesitation with Tatum would be the question of whether he's another Derrick Williams / Michael Beasley type who can score but has no defensive position in the NBA and also isn't above average at passing, rebounding, or shooting.

Tatum showed way more defense than either Beasley or Derrick Williams imo. However, I don't think he's anywhere close to the type of athlete those guys are. What doomed those guys was being stupid (in terms of basketball IQ), Tatum doesn't seem to have that problem.

i always thought beasley's fundamental shortcoming was being a combination of unmotivated and not overly bright.

Not to hijack the thread, but Beasley could've been a star if he wanted it badly enough. Plenty of offensive only stars in the league (look at our very own Isaiah Thomas).

Back to the original point, Top 4 should be Fultz/Ball/Jackson/Tatum. If we don't end up with one of those guys, then the C's are overthinking/outsmarting themselves. Unless there's some major character or medical red flag, we need to make the simple choice.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

Just want everyone to remember something. Last year the consensus was Simmons #1, Ingram #2, then anyone of 5 players being in the mix for the third spot due to how close those players were. Most draft sites had Jaylen Brown down near 8th. Only a couple had Jaylen going third.

Why should we remember this? Because I really believe that the talent, 1 through 7 is so close that all it could take is one or two GMs falling in love with a player for a consensus to be thrown all to hell.

So I wouldn't etch in stone that the top 4 are Fultz, Ball, Jackson, Tatum. I especially can see Jackson tumbling down the draft if teams start interviewing coaches, trainers, and others and find out he has massive maturity and good decision making problems.

Very true, although I'd be surprised if Jackson falls.
