Ben Simmons reportedly grows, may reach 7'0"

The claim came via former Sixers player World B. Free and WIP-FM beat reporter Jon Johnson. Free mentioned it during the 76ers broadcast of a game against Cleveland last week.

“It seems like Ben Simmons grew about another two inches since he’s been here,” Free said.

“I told him that the other day, I said, ‘Ben, you look like you’ve grown another two inches since you’ve been here’.

“His arms are long, he’s lean, he’s in shape. When I watched him in practice — just in practice — he’s like a baby Magic Johnson. He’s practiced with LeBron — he worked out with LeBron — so LeBron’s probably going to beat him up and make him strong.”

Johnson apparently followed up the claim with Simmons himself and predicted he could be above the mark for rookie season Take 2.

That would be some luck, having Embiid grow to 7'2 and now Simmons to 7'. Maybe instead of legit injuries they are just making their top rookies each year go into a growth promoting program 

If they also get the Lakers pick in this draft and those two 7 footers stay healthy, they are going to be tough.

Very true... I would gladly trade the 1st pick for Simmons as he would fit in seamlessly with our team, more so than any of the top four players in this draft.

If Simmons was 7-0 and could learn to play center ... with his ball-handling and playmaking from the center position, wow ... world look out.

He would be an incredible mismatch.

No way. As prospects, Oden, Davis, Howard, KAT, Rose and Wall were more highly regarded, at minimum. I'd add Carmelo, Wiggins, and Blake, as well.

I would agree with Bill if Simmons was able to shoot at all. But he literally can only dunk, lay it up or pass. Granted if he is actually a 7'0 PF then it doesnt matter and he can come along slowly in regards to shooting. Id still trade our pick this year for him.

Id give them the 2018 Nets, Bradley and another 1st for him if im being honest. But philly hangs up the phone.

His height isn't going to matter if he doesn't bring good defensive intensity and BBIQ.

Hard to win championships with bad defensive big men starting. And he was bad in college.

They had better hope Embiid stays healthy, because Simmons is going to be a sieve at that end.

His poor jumper could also cause problems on offense. Let's not crown him just yet.

Well technically growth is independent of activity, so are you saying the philly reporters are full of it?
