  • What a Pub Should Be
Someone says Ernst and Young would not participate. Lol
Enron anyone?

If there is no rigging just have the drawing in public.

Man, it's Groundhog Day with these arguments.  Having the actual drawing live would kill the dramatic element and take a much longer and less predictable amount of time.  Instead they record the entire drawing and post it online every year. Here's last year's:

Feel the excitement!  Also please point out the rigging if you could.

Stop bringing facts into this.  They have no place here.

I need to just make a bot to post this stuff because it's the same dumb arguments every. single. year.

And the beauty of it is you can invent a conspiracy reason for basically every team to win, especially after the fact, and just forget about the many times the pre-draft "rigged for Team X" phony certainty didn't pan out.

The possibilities are endless... 4th. quarter in LA, five seconds remaining, Head coach Lavar Ball calls a time out for the Lakers, and draws up a play where "surprise surprise" his son Lonzo receives the ball at mid-court, eludes defenders to take the ball to hole, when suddenly out of know where Markelle Fultz leaps over the head of LaMello Ball and blocks his shot at the rim, assuring the Celtics of a series win.

Man, it's Groundhog Day with these arguments every single year.  Having the actual drawing live would kill the dramatic element and take a much longer and less predictable amount of time - Philly combos came up twice in a row last year, for example, so they had to redraw for #2.

Instead they record the entire drawing and post it online every year. Here's last year's:

TP for FWF for adding a dose of reality to this nonsense.  It must be nice to live in fantasy land where you can just assume every time something doesn't go your way that it's some vast conspiracy theory.  I used to take the time to point out the multitude of reasons why this the "draft is rigged!" stuff is BS, but it's not worth my time.  People will believe what makes them feel good, regardless of how far from reality it is.

You don't know whether it is happening or not. Just because you can't think of a way for it to happen doesn't mean it isn't happening.

I have a wealthy friend from Manhattan who knows a former NBA league official. That official told my friend the league is very corrupt.

It's not a shocker to think big business might find some creative ways to cheat their customers. Just look at the Volkswagen diesel emissions cheating. It happens. Don't sell these people short, they are greedy and will find ways to grub extra money.

  • GOT IT!!!
The Lakers losing their pick was never in question. No only did they not fall out of the top 3 they moved up a spot.

I figured they'd just get the top pick and draft Ball. Well close enough too it I guess lol

Thank God the Lakers didn't lose their pick. The last thing I wanted was Philly with another top 5.
Jaylen Brown will be an All Star in the next 5 years.

I agree.

I was scared as crap they would've gotten #1 and # 4......that would've been a nightmare.

This video is pretty good if you can get past his annoying voice.

1.6% chance Derrick Rose to the Bulls.
 1.7% chance Cavs get Wiggins
Ewing in the first ever lottery to the Knicks
2% chance Penny Hardaway to the Magic
 LeBron to hometown Cleveland.

The video they show in this video does show the guy bend the corner of the envelope than Stern does a last second flip to select the envelope that was previously altered.
