If Thompson is not play n ,  then I be shocked if Jae plays

I agree.

I'll go one step further and say, as much as we all want us to win this game,  I'd rather see Crowder rest and get fully healthy for the playoffs.

We saw last year how much not having a healthy Crowder hurt us for the playoffs.

Yup.....not going very far without Jae ....have to have him in a series to guard guys like LeBron

It's going to take a massive effort from the rest of the team , maybe all the way to the end of the bench to take the Cavs without Jae.

Secret weapon to night I predict is .........

Jordon Mickey

The secret weapon is Jaylen Brown.

His athleticism seemed to give LeBron problems at both ends last game.

Take LeBron out of his rhythm and we have a great shot to win.

If it's half as competitive as the last matchup between these two it should be a fun night at the Garden.

GO CELTS!
Yup

Is this the biggest Celtics game in roughly 5 years (2012 ECF Game 7)? It has to be, right? It'll be interesting to see how we come out, especially being on a couple of days rest.

No, the 2017 Eastern Conference Finals, Game 7 @TD Garden will be the biggest Celtics game in roughly 5 years.  ;)

agreed. for me, this is a litmus test of just how good playoff celtics might be. if the celtics win, i can get a little bit optimistic that this team MIGHT make it to the finals.

if the celtics lose a close game, i am still feeling good that they can give the cavs a run in the playoffs.

if the celtics get beaten like rented mules, well, then my pessimistic side may enter into the picture. i become depressed and drink more.

but in any case, i am looking foward to this game. i hope "good olly" shows up and rips love's arm off once more...well, maybe not that severe.  ;)

I don't know if the Cavs will rest Lebron, or any of the starters. They have a good opportunity to slap the C's in front of their fans on National TV. I would be disappointed if the Cavs didn't take this game seriously. It would say something about the team, and their confidence in my eyes.

A solid win here for the Cavs would put them back to feeling good about themselves, after a month or so of playing less than average basketball. IMO Lebro would like a W here, to get his legacy train back on track.

We should get a glimpse of just how playoff teams will prepare for us, and it should be a physical contest.

The Celtics need to push the pace, move the ball, and get into Cleveland's less than stellar bench. And most of all...HIT SHOTS, a few players on the Celtics need to step up, besides IT.

I'm up for this one! Go C's!

What difference will Game 7 make, since we're going to beat them in five?

  • That's turrible
If there's no Crowder tonight, I'm expecting Smart and/or Brown to do something spectacular.

Jae has been fairly effective in guarding LeBron in the past.  LeBron has a net rating of -15.8 and an eFG% of 51.6  with Jae on the court.  He has a net rating of +19 and an eFG% of 71.4 when Jae is off the court.  If Jae can't play,  it makes the job of trying to limit LeBron much harder.  However, it is more important for Jae to be healthy for the playoffs than for him to play in this one game if there's any doubt about his elbow.

Interesting stat.  If specific to this season, pretty impressive.  Even better if it dates back two+ years.

The last few games suggest CLE won't rest guys for this one, which would normally seem preferable.  But if TOR lands the #3 seed, I'd almost prefer to finish #2.  The ECF would be a great accomplishment for this season.
Hmm isn't it the opposite, if CLE finished 1 and TOR 3 they wouldn't see each other till the ECF right?!

Woops, good catch -- you're right.  I meant in TOR lands #4, which seemed more possible with last night's win for WASH and loss by TOR.  They have the same record right now, but WASH looks to have the tougher schedule the rest of the way.

As of right now, the Celtics are favored by 4 points.

Lue stated yesterday that he planned on playing everyone tonight (Thompson out).  Cavs are also 1-9 on back ends of a b2b this season, and only 19-19 on the road. In other words, foregone conclusion that Celtics win by 10+.  :D

No Tristian Thompson tonight per Brian Windhorst.

https://mobile.twitter.com/undefined/status/849620806237773824

Tristian Thompson is missing the game? The guy who's missed 6 total games in his career (all as a rookie)? His 447 consecutive game playing streak is being broken?

Wow. We better take advantage
I'm bitter.

With Crowder in and Thompson out, let's clean the glass and take the W and outright lead of first place!
