Thon Maker scored 23 points in 24 minutes last night. He was on the floor in OT. He was 9/12 from the floor and 4/7 from 3.

Not to overreact but if he winds up being for real a lineup of Brogdon, Middleton, Antetokounmpo, Parker, and Maker could be devastating for years.

The Bucks are going to be a handful in the coming years regardless of Maker. They've won 40 games without Middleton 3/4 of the season.

Wonder what's going to happen to Jabari, if he could possibly stay healthy I could see us finding a spot for him.

I like Thon though and Milwaukee is probably the best spot for him since they've embraced the long, athletic, versatile, model. Giannis threatening to punch him if he hesitated to shoot the ball is a funny image. Whatever works I suppose.

It's very promising, but it's far from "devastating". At least, I hope so.

In theory, the Sixers lineup for a decade would have been devastating (as people here said months ago): Simmons, Covington, Saric, Noel/Okafor, Embiid. Well, Simmons has yet to play a professional game, Noel is gone for peanuts, Okafor seems a bust and Embiid may have his career threatened. Things not always develop as expected.

I haven't been very impressed with Maker.  He hit most of his shots in one game.  If he does it a few times I'll reconsider his potential.

I wouldn't put too much stock in a one night performance against a poor, imploding team like the Pistons. Maker has a long, long way to go especially physically, on the boards and on the defensive end. Tons of potential but a lot of players that became nothing have had tons of potential.

Milwaukee reached on him, imo. I think both Zizic and Zubac will be better players than Maker, when all is said and done.

Regarding the Bucks, even if Thon doesn't work out, they still have a very bright future. Love Middleton and Brogdan as a future long term backcourt with Parker and Giannis.

And just like every other team they will have to make hard decisions about who to lose to the salary cap.

Maker may be 32 years old, but the Bucks have drafted well lately.

Bucks have talent but as other posters pointed out, this does not always translate to success.

About Maker, it's prolly too early to say. People who watched the game: other than his stats, anything else interesting about Maker in that game?

I truly tire of many putting Parker in the with the elites.  He is ranked 46 in RPM out of 93 PF's and ranks a dismal 91 out of 93 in defensive RPM!!!

And Thon Maker is ranked 70th in RPM out of 93 PF's.

He was also putting up 20-6-3 on .490/.365/.743 before his injury and only just turned 22 last month. As others have wisely said, potential doesn't always translate to talent, but Parker has a ton of potential and fitting in nicely next to Giannis the first half of the season.

im truly tired of people putting this much stock into RPM! its a cool stat, but its very flawed and those flaws have been discussed ad nauseum on this site.

I dont think Parker fits well on that team and he is clearly a poor defensive player, but his talent is undeniable. Terrific young talent and a good young player.

If I were them, i would look to move him for a piece that fits better next to Middleton and GA. The alternative would be to hold on to your elite talent and hope you can fit your other young stars around him.

As for the rest of their core, I think GA is overrated (but still a terrific player) and I think Brogdon is not far from his peak right now. Also, i dont think Maker will ever be much of anything in the NBA.

Middleton is in the Avery Bradley class of players a notch below all-star level but still terrific and Giannis is a true star who I believe will spend most of his career in the 5-15 range of NBA players.

Parker projects as a perennial all-star.

Thats a terrific core in itself but Im not losing sleep over malcom brogdon and Thon Maker.

He may turn out to be a nice player or even a great one. But he wasn't considered even top 8 material pre-draft before his age discrepancy was exposed so it's not like he was a viable target for the Celtics. He was gone before their next pick. He's averaging 3.7 points and 1.6 rebounds per game. I'm not going to get overly excited about one game where he was successful. Dana Barros and Willie Burton scored over 50 points in a game each proving that a good game does not make a career.

Of course, I really suspect he's about 23 years old now. :)
Jaylen Brown will be an All Star in the next 5 years.

They can't move Parker yet. He's going to have to come back and prove he can still play. Many guys don't recover from one ACL tear, never mind two.

Bucks have a bright future no doubt. That's actually nice to see given how long they've been an also-ran.

I agree with all of this. And for the sake of the Celtics contending for the next 15 years, I'm hoping its right.
