Which of the players/coaches/GMs/assistents in our rich history were the longest Celtics basketball related employees? For the sake of this topic we will not include the cleaning ladies, lightbulb operators and similar, who I am sure were magnificent at what they did.
Red Auerbach is an absolute champion with 56 years (1950/2006) of service as a coach/president. A franchise guy in the truest sense of the word. (Remember that english is not my 1st.)
Tommy, if I am correct, got payed to play and coach for 19 years. We will not count in his broadcasting career.
The 3rd candidate is none other than our current Star trek character, Danny Ainge. He played for 8 years in Boston and has been an executive since the 5/2003. That puts him in front of Tommy gun by 3 years, at the total of 22 years. And still counting for a number of years, who knows, maybe even decades. Red wanted him, I remember him as a lucid man even in his winter days.
So far, the list looks like this:
UPDATED
1. 56 years - Red Auerbach 1950-2006
2. 29 years - Ed Lacerte 1988-2017+
3. 22 years - Danny Ainge 1981-1989, 2003-2017+
4. 19 years - Tommy Heinsohn 1956-1965, 1969-1978
I find this topic interesting, since we are the most succesfull franchise in the NBA, when taking in account the longevity and championships won, and it would seem appropriate for such a list to exist.
