About 40 Percocet.

That would be a disaster.

This, lol.

Picking 5th in a 4-man draft would be horrendous.

Good thing it's not a 4-man draft.

I think there are four players who are elite in this draft.  Everybody else is a step down from that.  Not calling them scrubs; I just think 1-4 are where the cornerstones are.

JMO.

Isaac. I look at it like drafting Brandon Ingram 5th. Yeah, he's a project who doesn't help us immediately, but I see the IT, Horford, Bradley years as just the incubator for the Smart, Brown, 2017?, 2018? years. --at least until we get Blake or Hayward in free agency this year.
My biases, in order of fervor:
Pro:
Smart, Brown, Hayward, Tatum, Kemba, Grant Williams, Sleepy Williams, Edwards!

Anti:
Kanter, Semi, Theis, Poierier

Far from it.  For context - regardless of how one feels about Chad Ford - he has 5 players in Tier 2 (potential all-star) this year, relative to just 1 (Ingram) last year. Fox and Markannen were down in Tier 3 (projected NBA starters) at the time of the posting, but both received a few Tier 2 votes.

Moreover, since then Draftexpress has had Markannen going as high as #5 (last week, NYK), and Fox has to have improved his stock with tournament play (currently #6, behind Monk).  I'm not an Isaac fan, but several folks here are (also Tier 3).  And Dennis Smith Jr. is probably underappreciated around here due to the strength of our backcourt (Tier 2).

If it's top 4 (which it will be), keep the pick and draft accordingly. If for some reason it turns out to be fifth, I'd try to trade it.

I think we get the best odds and pick top 2.

Yeah why is this a thread?  If Brooklyn stays in last place it is guaranteed no worse than #4.

You better become a Laker fan, quick, just until the regular season is over.

Fox if he's there.   Absolutely no interest in giving up the pick for Gordon or Winslow.  Maybe Ainge liked them once upon a time, but now that he's seen them play in the NBA he shouldn't like them nearly as much as he once did.

Call me crazy, but I would take Miles Bridges. People can say all they want about undersized he is, but his explosive athleticism, playmaking ability, ability to stretch the floor and bump inside, and finally he's a good passer. He would become such a dangerous threat in Stevens system at PF alongside Horford. He can also get out on the wing and defend while blocking shots inside as well. Good rebounder. Whoever gets Bridges at 10 is getting a steal because he is a very good basketball player and fits very well into today's NBA.

TP for using a parenthetical citation to a CB forum post.  Made me chuckle.

Monk, and I might even take him #3. Really like his combo of shooting + quickness.

nbadraft.net has Fox going 4 and Tatum available at 5.  Of course they have Jackson going 1 followed by Ball and Fultz, so a bit difficult to take that one seriously.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

(A) The Lakers
(B) This is Boston, where we have come to expect the worst.

Celtics fan for life.

It's interesting how any site that deviates from the herd mentality is mocked.  Personally I think that's about how I would have it, probably Fultz ahead of Ball though.

i am rather surprised at the lack of love for monk. he seems to be good player.

I like him -- I just think he's a bit small for the 2-guard, and so is not in my top 5 (but is right outside).  He's Avery Bradley size, but without the wingspan.
draftexpress says he is the same height as fox. and i think monk is a better shooter.

but it doesnt matter since the celtics will pick #1 and pick fultz...or jackson.  ;D

Yes, same height, maybe half an inch difference thanks to hairstyles, but Fox has wingspan measurements 3-4 inches longer, and wingspan is definitely an important physical trait, at least as much as height.  Furthermore, Fox projects as a PG, where he would be appropriately sized, whereas Monk looks to be a wing, where he's a little small, especially in wingspan.  It's nitpicking, but I think it keeps him out of the top 5 in a loaded top of the draft class.  But I'd be surprised if he lasted beyond #8.
The Kentucky wingspan numbers seem suspect. They have Fox with a 6'4.5 wingspan and Monk with a 6'3.5 wingspan. Both were measured with 6'6 wingspans by USA basketball in 2015 and 6'7 wingspans  by USA Basketball in 2014. I understand an inch difference year to year but from watching both guys it seems like 6'6-6'7 is more likely.

I'd go with Monk at 5. Put him next to Smart long term and I think they do a pretty good job of covering each others weaknesses.

If worst comes to worst and the C's pick at 5 I think a trade for George or Butler is more likely than them drafting a prospect.
