We should root for Washington. If the Celtics go 5-4, the Wizards would need to go 8-2 to tie our record (and we'd probably win the tiebreakers but it's not a given). For starters, Washington is not going 8-2 with the rest of their schedule (consecutive games at the Clippers, Jazz, and Warriors next week, and only 2 home games remaining). And a) we should probably finish better than 5-4, and b) if we don't, we didn't deserve the #2 seed anyway.
Yep, agree with everything here. TP.
I think Boston goes 6-3 the rest of the season, and that's with a Cleveland loss included.
If they beat CLE they could go 7-2.
The tricky games left IMO are Cleveland, then the two road games @ ATL and @ CHA, and I guess Miami and Milwaukee. As long as they take care of business against easy teams and win around 3 games against those 5 teams I just listed as being tricky, they should be good.
No way we lose to Charlotte. We're like 6-1 against them the last two years, and they'll be out of the playoff race by that point, meaning no motivation to win. And for Atlanta we should still be favored, especially with how terrible they've played lately and if Millsap is still out.
7-2 or 8-1 is what we'll go the rest of the way I think, depending upon whether or not we beat Cleveland. If they're already a game or so below us by the time we play, it wouldn't surprise me to see them rest their guys against us to not let us get a look at them.
