Let's put it this way I was glad Rivers left before I even knew his replacement.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Doc does (semi) well coaching a veteran team with an abundance of talented, high IQ players.

With a developing, system based team like our current Celtics I take Stevens hands down.

It's not close.

Doc Rivers is good at managing veteran star personalities.  I don't think much of him otherwise, to be honest.

So you are saying Doc is good at coaching guys who don't need much coaching.  ;)

Doc is good at managing Vets and their egos. Hes an above average coach at X&Os. He used to have great ATO plays. Overall I prefer Stevens, but let's not pretend that Doc was good. He wasn't great, but he hasnt been terrible either.

I agree, Stevens is a much better coach for the current Celtics roster.

Conversely, I think Doc was a better coach (maybe the perfect coach) for the Celtics team that won the title in 2008.  I don't think Stevens could have handled that group, and would have gotten run over by all the strong personalities on that team.  I have serious doubts if Stevens was leading that team they would have won the title.
