I define small ball as anytime the C's do not have at least 2 of Horford, Amir, K.O., Jerebko, Zeller or Mickey on the floor.  In the 14 games post all star break the C's have played a total of 672 minutes and have outscored opponents by +18 points, approximately 170 of which were small ball lineups that have been outscored by -54 points in total, and 502 minutes with at least 2 big men on the floor that have outscored opponents by +72 points.

Below are the numbers broken down according to how many minutes of small ball was played in each individual game, followed by whether the C's won or lost and the final scoring margin.

                          S.B.
                          min.   result    +/-
Mar. 12  Chi.          0      won     +20
Mar. 15  Min.        3.6     won     +13
Feb. 26 @Det.      4.2     won      +6
Mar.  8 @G.S.       5.0     won     +13
Mar.  3 @ L.A.L.    6.7     won     +20
Mar.  1   Cle.       10.5     won      +4
Mar. 17 @ Brk.    10.8     won      +3
Feb. 24 @Tor.      11.1     lost      -10
Mar.   5 @Pho.     13.0     lost       -3
Mar. 19 @Phi.      13.9     lost       -6
Mar. 20  Was.      14.8     won      +8
Feb. 27  Atl.        14.9      lost     -16
Mar. 10 @Den.    22.3      lost     -20
Mar.  6 @L.A.C.   38.9      lost     -14

In the last game against Washington the C's had a 15 point lead in the middle of the 3rd qtr. having only played 7 seconds of small ball up to that point.  The C's then went to mostly small ball and saw the lead dwindle to as little as 6 in the 4th.

Great analysis.  I'd guess its because of rebounding....and rim protection.  The thing is, you have to play 2 bigs when the other team is playing 2 bigs.
