Only 3 teams are ranked in the top 10 in both offensive and defensive ratings:

Warriors - 1st in offense and 2nd in defense
Spurs - 6th in offense and 1st in defense

AND...................................................

Celtics - 8th in offense and 10th in defense!

Excellent work boys!!  Let's make some noise in the playoffs!!

Over the last 15 games, defense is up to 5th, but offense is down to 20th, and we're only 8-7 in those games.  It was a tough schedule, but we need to finish strong.

Basketball Reference has them 8th and 12th in ORtg and DRtg right now.

Given where they started the season, in terms of defense, they've done very well to get back to 12th. Hopefully this is a sign that the team has come together and will be a force in the playoffs with their defense.

NBA.com is the better place for these ratings.  BBRef uses an older formula to calculate possessions, to be consistent with prior eras when certain records were not kept (I think turnovers are what's missing, but maybe it's something else).  NBA.com advanced stats don't go nearly that far back in time, so they are not handicapped by any desire for historical comparison.

to be fair, throughout the season we've been hit with a couple of injury bugs, Horford was basically out for a month, Jae had a week or two out, IT missed a game here and there, Bradley basically missed a month. So to be at 8 and 12 is pretty impressive

Eh, I'm not sure on the details.  I just know that BBRef estimates possessions (for consistency) and NBA.com doesn't.  The differences are usually minor.

I'm surprised to see us so high in D rating given how poorly we were rated 20-30 games into the year.  But I guess on the flip side, given our injuries and the quality defenders on our team that get plenty of PT (like AB, Crowder, Smart, Horford) it's surprising we were ever rated so low.

Weird. I think I prefer BBRef just because I prefer their interface because I'm an old crank but that's good information about why the numbers were different on the two sites. I couldn't figure it out.
