Can we talk about how nasty the Sixers will be in a year or two with

(C) Embiid
(PF) Saric
(SF) Simmons
(G) (Free agent: Avery Bradley perhaps?)
(PG) Ball/Fultz/Smith/Fox

Potential dynasty if everyone lives up to their potential.

that team will certainly not contend in a year or a two.

22 year olds dont contend.

22 year olds dont contend.

With their respective ages, though, they have a potentially large window for contention.  I personally doubt Embiid's health allows for that to happen, though hopefully I'm wrong about that (for his sake, not ours).

they are reliant on Embiids health and even if he stays healthy their theres no way they contend  in a year and its incredibly unlikely they contend in 2 years.

So if you add three elite talents in Embiid, Simmons, and one of Fultz/Ball/Smith/Fox to the team that beat us today, and say that team is not at all a contender, then what does that say about us? Despite all of our experience, winning culture, coaching, depth, and vet leadership, we lost to that team today. Sure, we were without IT, but they were without Embiid and Simmons, and Okafor missed most of the game today. Sure we are getting a top pick in this draft, but so are they. They may even get two in this draft.

the team that beat us today sucks. They beat us. LA beat the Warriors early in the year. LA sucks the warriors are awesome.

Elite talents are great and Simmons(if he lives up to his potential) and Fultz Ball Smith etc could also be great and a healthy Embiid is amazing, but those guys still wont contend as 19-22 year olds. If that nucleus can stay together, reach their potentials and stay healthy they will reach a long period of contention but so far theyve played a combined 31 NBA games so its far from a sure thing.

I'm pretty confident the C's missing IT today was a bigger deal than Philly missing Embiid and Simmons.  Present day IT is better than the present day version of those two.

Simmons has never even played a NBA game, kind of hard to say what type of impact he will ever have.  Even Embiid, for as amazing as he looked at times this year, has a long way to go before he ever proves he can stay healthy.

Maybe it all works out for Philly in the long run.  Maybe it doesn't.  Kind of hard to say right now.

Here's our season record against the Sixers this year:

Dec 3rd. Boston 107-106 Sixers

Jan 6th. Boston 110-106 Sixers

Feb. 15  Boston 116-108 Sixers

Mar. 19  Sixers  105-99 Boston

So for a team that is supposed to be so much worse than us, they have played us very close each game and beat us in one of them.

On a related note , they average a surprisingly consistent 106.25 pts per game against us.

We are the vet team and the deep team. They are supposed to be a rag tag collection of prospects and D leaguers. Why such a low discrepancy then?

Sadly, we play to the level of our competition FAR too often.

Boston only has a point differential of + 2.4 ppg despite their record. Boston is certainly not a true contender as is.

Against Philly, Boston ended up a + 1.75 in the four games. Not that far off their season net.

That is not just the absence of IT, we have trouble beating these guys all season. Anyone who had analyzed the stats of the last 3 meetings between these teams and factored in the absence of IT could have made some good money betting on the spread for the game today.

There are such things as much up problems, or playing sloppy against inferior competition. Remember that our 2008 team lost 3 of 4 games against the wizards that year, the only team they loat a series to.
