Thought it might be fun to discuss/track whether Thomas can finish out the year averaging 30ppg.

Edit: Also, the Celtics regular season record is held by Larry Bird in '88 at 29.93ppg or 2275 points depending on whether you want to go by average or points.

Bird only played 76 games in '88, and as of now Thomas can play in a max of 78 and if he plays all 78 then he can break the Celtics total points record without breaking the average record.

Currently IT is at 29.5ppg with 18 games left, so to get a legit 30ppg he needs to avg 31.6 over the remaining 18 games, and that number goes up by about 0.1 for any game he doesn't play (i.e. if he sits out a game and only plays 17 more games this season, then he needs to avg 31.7ppg, 16 games then 31.8ppg, etc.).

So will he get to 30 and or break Birds record?  I feel like this is something he's probably shooting for.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Yeah I think he will. Probably ends around 29.8 PPG. That's where he was at for a long time before he went a little "cold" for a bit.

I don't care if he averages 30, but I'm sure he does.

Love the win last night, but Thomas only had 25  ::), dropping his average to 29.4

Needs to avg 32.0ppg over the remaining 17 games to average 30 for the year.
32.1ppg if he sits 1 game, 32.3 if he sits 2 games.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Isaiah update.  Realized hitting 30 will also surpass Bird and set the C's regular season record (so I updated my original post), but the last couple of games haven't been good to Isaiah if this is a goal of his, scoring only 21 against Denver and 22 against Chicago.

Isaiah's current average and total points = 29.2 and 1839.

15 more games and 437 more points needed to beat Bird.

If he plays all 15, needs to average 29.1 to beat Bird (in total points), 33.4 to average a legit 30.
If he plays 14, needs to average 31.2 to beat Bird, 33.6 to average 30.
If he plays 13, needs to average 33.6 to beat Bird, 33.9 to average 30.

It's an uphill battle from here.

No

he is slowly not caring about it and the team is playing better

once he learns to balance between not forcing it (team game) and needing to take over (team struggles) ... he will be very very good

his defensive effort/consistency is looking better as of late as well

This..

Since his streak of 20 plus was broken he slacked back abit and really didn't care much about it anymore...heck he is not even concerned anymore if he doesnt2 score 10plus in the fourth which to me is good because he will be more efficient in finding his spot to score since everyone and the league knows he can score at will when he puts his jets on.
