I know, there's a great chance Hayward stays in UTAH, and Griffin with LAC.

But lets just assume they (their teams, UTAH and LAC) have poor playoff showings and Hayward and Griffin ultimately decide to test the market and leave.

My Opinion: By a small margin, Blake Griffin, although his injury history does scare me a bit. But he does fill a need, can put up points (good scorer), and yes people, he CAN rebound (maybe not like DeAndre Jordan or Drummond, but he can get 9-10 a game).

Hayward certainly wouldn't be a bad Plan B here though, and Millsap a Plan C.

I have heard people say the possibility of signing Griffin/Hayward, THEN trading 2017 Nets Pick, Bradley and Crowder in a deal for either PG13 or Butler. I wouldn't prefer doing that because I'd hate to lose Crowder AND that hurts our depth a bit, but it is an option.

So Celticsblog, who do you want this summer?

No doubt, Griffin + Zizic added to this team.  ;D

Even with Zizic off the bench, that becomes a great front court.

Millsap = too old

B.Griffin = his style of play makes it unlikely he ages well. Too many acrobatic assaults on the rim. Too many hard falls. Injuries, loss of athleticism and premature decline are all too likely for him.

So I am going to take Gordon Hayward. Best long term addition despite the other two being better short term fits (being PFs).

Makes sense.

Hayward does help out a ton with the scoring.

I'm a bit worried about Griffins health. Dudes been injured a lot. He's lost a bit but still plays well. Hayward fits the system very well, plays solid D and can get his own shot which helps IT in the 4th. Plus plays PG a lot for Utah. But we need rebounding so.......

It's tough, but if DA can find a rebounder, I'd have to go with Hayward, better chances of him coming too. But quick question can LA trade Griffin on draft night even though it's a player option?

Don't want Millsap at all.

Hayward.  Griffin won't have even played 70 games in the prior three seasons when he signs his next deal.  You can't give someone a max deal going into his 30s who's had that much trouble staying healthy recently.  I think Griffin fits better if healthy, but that IF is too chancy given his history.

I agree with this. Hayward is the best long term option, and he is just approaches career peak. The other two guys are either well past it (Milsap) or already on the decline and rely too much on athleticism (Griffin).

I like Blake but that injury history though is concerning.

I'd say Hayward. Upgrades you at SF and gives you another go to scorer and pushes Crowder to the bench to help the bench unit. You can use the 17 pick to draft a guard and make one Smart or Bradley expendable (I'd  prefer to keep Smart). Then you have chips to trade for a big to pair with Horford or someone like Butler.

Can anyone tell a salary cap simpleton what a max for Griffin and Hayward would look like?

~$30.6 million year one, with 4.5 raises, so ~$130 million total
I'm bitter.

I voted trade..is hayward better than bradley? Very slightly..we have horford and crowder so no need for milsap..griffin be great but doubt he wiuld leave the west coast plus injury prone...we need a rebounder and rim protector!!!
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

this thread is a hypothetical where it is presumed that we could sign any of the three

Griffin would immediately become our best rebounder by a decent margin.
