According to Arizona Sports' 'Burns & Gambo' podcast, the Nets' pick wasn't the only thing Chicago would've accepted for Butler. It is believed they offered their All-Star swingman to the Phoenix Suns in return for sophomore point guard Devin Booker.

No deal materialised, Butler stayed in Chi-Town, Booker is still a Sun, the Celtics still have 50,000 draft picks and Chicago fans are no clearer about the direction their team is headed.

So what would be equivalent to Booker? I would guess the 17brk pick or Jaylen brown.

They shouldn't expect much more than that, especially since they are clearly rebuilding now.

Booker is a way, way better prospect than Jaylen.

Rodney Hood / Nic Batum / Marcus Georges Hunt
Taj Gibson / Nemanja Bjelica / Jonas Jerebko

I think the problem with the trade is that they do expect more than that.  Last summer it was 2016 & 2017 BRK pick plus Crowder and either Smart or Bradley for Butler and it seems they that hasn't changed. I think I read it was Brown, Crowder, Smart, and the 2017 pick. They are asking too much.  I'd rather just try for Hayward as a FA and keep the players and picks.

This just speaks to how vastly overrated Booker is. He's athletically limited, a defense liability, and doesn't do much else other than scoring. He's supposed to be a lights out shooter and then you realize that he only shoots 42.6% from the field and 36.9% from 3's when you dig a little closer at his numbers.

No he's not.   Jaylen has a much higher upside.

Lol. Not even close. You obviously haven't watched Booker play offense. He averages 21 a game, has a sweet stroke, a great handle, athletic, etc. and he's only 20. He's one of the best offensive prospects in the game.

I would consider this deal if it were:

Bradley, Crowder, BKN 2017, BOS 2018

for

George, IND 2017

So we still get a solid lottery pick in 2017, but they get the top 4 pick.

You don't go into the centre of the comparison, I guess on purpose. If Jaylen would play 30+ minutes in a bad team with freedom to attack the rim, he may be averaging those 21 points per game. And he's only 20 as well.

How many minutes would Booker be playing for us?

Let smart and brown develop...  Butler does not make us contenders

He would be starting next to IT.

As Jaylen is doing.

In any case, they asked a lot more from the Celtics than from the Suns.

Fultz/Ball/Jackson plus two of our starters....laughable.

TP. One dimensional, as of now anyway, and not all that great on that dimension. TS% of 53% (Jaylen is at 52%). I'd say Booker's career projects to be more Jamal Crawford than Ray Allen.

Jaylen isn't as well developed but his potential on every dimension except shooting is better, IMO.
