What a thread.... with actual comprehensive arguments to support the pro and the con position on maxing out IT.
I have read the entire thread and I am now conflicted regarding this issue.
There are very interesting arguments on both sides. For those that are p---ed that he brought up the Lakers that is an emotional response, but it is not to be discounted since one of the reasons IT is so beloved in Boston is that he seemed to really embrace the Celtics. Swooning over the Lakers is not a way to warm yourself into the heart of Celtic fans, so he really should not go in that direction (although I do feel that his mention of the Lakers was more historical than forward looking).
If you look strictly at the individual statistics, IT is entitled to the max.
If you look at team achievement under the leadership of IT, maybe not the max.
If you look at the total body of work from HS as a predictor of future performance, maybe not max.
Beware of the Koncack (sp) contract. Max is not a place for a flash in the pan.
Danny has a predicament here, but at the end of the day the market and the team's needs should determine the value.
The questions you ask at the time of the decision is ..
1. How much does the organization need IT.
2. How much does the team need IT.
3. What are the best alternatives to IT for questions 1 and 2.
4. What are other teams willing to pay (i.e what is IT's market value).
That is what is going to decide if he gest maxed or not.
