My son and I and two of his college buddies went to watch the Red Claws play in Greensboro last night.

Here is my take on Nader.

He has really GOOD handles for a man his size.  He handled the ball a LOT, especially in the first half.  He ended with 32 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists (only 2 turnovers), 1 steal, and 1 block.  He seemingly has a high basketball IQ!!

That being said, he seems to have very HEAVY legs and not much vertical.  I was surprised by this.  He still moves remarkably well, especially laterally, but this could be an issue at the next level.

I do think that he is good enough to play at the next level as a bench player.

On another note, I was impressed with Cat Barber and think the Hornets will give him a 10-day contract before the end of the year.  That being said, this is the Hornets we are talking about.  If any team could use an offensive spark like Cat, it is the Hornets, yet Cho and MJ do NOT seem to have a clue of late.

Thanks for the info Rollie!!!  He just really never showed that last night.  He is a very heady player even close to the floor:-))  30" vertical is not all that great.  But he is thick down low, so given that, not bad at all!!!  That wingspan WAS apparent!!!

To calrify that's standing vertical. 30" is solid.

Smart and Westbrook havea 33.5" standing vertical which are elite numbers.

My guess is Nader's max vertical is around 33 to 34 inches, based on standing vertical.

TP, Smitty....thanks for the in-person report.

At a game, you can really focus on one player if you want. You get a lot more insight than watching on TV.

I'm looking forward to Nader playing for the parent club.

Glad to hear that!!  Thanks for the info!!  He, as I mentioned earlier, just did NOT show much of that vertical last night.  He really didn't have to:-))

If he was good enough, he would play in the NBA.

I don't think that to be true.  I think we CONTROL him and we do NOT want to sign him this year and lose a year of control for 10, 20, or 25 games!!

P.S.  And before you judge him, WATCH him play IN PERSON please!!!

Glad you had a good time, Smitty, D-league ball is pretty good stuff, especially when our own prospects are on display.

Yeah, one thing that is striking about Nader is just how BIG he is. It really is impressive in person, even amongst other very tall human beings. Love what I've seen from him so far.
