Thanks for the answer. So why does every one on this board seem to want him?

Because he has good rebounding numbers, and I guess people think that he can somehow play on the court at the same time as Horford without the Celtics getting completely abused on the perimeter.  Those people didn't watch a minute of Dirk-Bogut lineups in Dallas, I'd guess.

Question is, if Jones is added - who is released?  Young or Mickey??

That's a tough one.
Same position as Mickey - who is on a very good contract Or Young who actually played well lately.

But we can for use use Jones!

Jones may be a better fit then Bogut. He is capable of shooting a 3, not great, but compared to Bogut... he will not clog the paint for IT.

Can't we release Zeller? I thought his dumb contract was supposed to be used as trade chip for salary matching in a big deal. I don't see why we need him or his contract now.
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

1) He's a heckuva a lot more useful than Mickey.
2) His contract can still be traded on draft night.

Sorry you can't see either, but there's a reason Zeller is in the back of the rotation, while Mickey shuttles back and forth from Maine to the end of the bench.

His contract is nonguaranteed for next season, which means that it can be used in trades this offseason (if we don't decline to pick up the guarantee to sign a max FA). Releasing him now would remove that possibility.

But even if that wasn't the case, I would rather keep him and cut Mickey.  Zeller can provide some decent rebounding (best TRB% on the team), while still being okay on offense.  For spot minutes, I'd take him over Mickey any day
I'm bitter.

I am letting myself get excited over Jones.
He could be a perfect match vs Tristan Thompson if that happens.
plus you expect the usual improvement of anyone playing under Brad.

Young. He will be released this summer anyway.

Right. So I tend to think Mickey. There's a higher chance Young could be called upon for spot minutes on a team that acquires Jones, or any other 4 or 5.
