So who is taking bets on this not going down? I have a bad feeling about it.

I'm only betting don't pass on a trade for PG. It isn't going down.

Sam Amick: The word from Celtics side with 98 minutes to go: no progress on Paul George talks with Indy. Still time though

I was optimistic last night, but I'm getting the feeling that we end walking away from these mega deals and getting Melo on the cheap instead. Last week, I would have rather killed myself than add Melo to this team, but I'm starting to think he's the best option if he can be had for a bargain basement deal.
if we can get melo without the key pieces (brown smart bk picks) then i'm good with that

although browns minutes might dissapear
I trust Danny Ainge

I'd lean towards it not happening because Bird can play chicken with an overpay and just do it again on Draft Night if his price isn't met. And we know Danny's not going to cave if he doesn't think the value's right.

There's a decent chance it happens I think, it's just not the most likely. Gallinari for cheap would be a solid backup move in that case.

What?  Never!

We still have days and weeks to debate the move the Celtics did or did not make.

Knicks: Irving, Drummond, Marcus Morris, S. Muhammad, C. Lee, Sullinger, Hield, M. Chriss , V. Carter, T. Zeller, N. Cole, T. Prince, Livio Jean-Charles, Tyler Ulis, N. Collison

Trades (including trades for those guys) can happen during the offseason, too. They don't have to be at the trade deadline
I'm bitter.

if this goes down, i cant wait to here the non celtics fans complain about how ainge can only do a big trade if his friends are involved(mchale, bird)
then let them lobby for Tree Rollins to run a team.  He'll charge Ainge an arm and a leg as well as a finger ;)

Good point. And then the lottery, and then the draft...

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
So, is the whole "PG will sign with LA" the reason now for the hold up?

I think it is...

If you're Celtics, I think you let it ride w/ Paul George & trust that, by summer 2018, you convince him to be Celtics legend. Denver? Dicey

I'm with Sam: pull the trigger, get a couple of solid playoff runs out of it. I like our chances in that gamble.

But Larry's leverage will dissipate if he continues to wait.
Danny Ainge got fleeced.
