The Wizards just got slightly better, as it stands we are likely to face them in the playoff,
how do we match up against them?

I would say we should beat them, but I'm not confident that we would unless we make a significant move.

No trades but everyone healthy we can squeak by them.

Trade for PG or Butler we can dismiss them in 6 games.

Trade for Drummond we dismiss them in 5 without anyone moving except perhaps AB.

I have every confidence in IT showing his real worth come playoff time...he seems to be holding back at times despite his fourth qtr heroics.

Wizards have the worst luck. It's almost guaranteed that Beal, Wall or some other significant player will get hurt come playoff time. If they are healthy it would be a tough series. They are playing incredibly well of late.

Healthy, yes. Our 2 defeats this season we were missing starters (Crowder+Horford 1st game, Bradley last game)

If we have Avery back and he's playing like he was earlier in the year, we have a chance of beating them in a close series.  Right now the way we are I think they'll beat us pretty handily

Washington looked pretty good in the postseason a couple years ago.

They are not consistent. You can expect the worse or the best from them.
Let see how they handle their last 27 games and how we play together with AB before we talk.

No, I think it would be a tough series.

Assuming Boston ever stays as the 2 seed, who says Boston even gets by Chicago, Indiana, or Detroit (or whomever else might be the 7 seed)?  Who says Toronto or Atlanta doesn't catch Washington for the 3 seed?
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
If we are fully healthy and they are fully healthy we should win in 6 games.

I believe we are a better team than them.

It really all depends on John Wall. He's been playing like a top 5 NBA player the last 3 months and is destroying everyone in his path.

We have enough defensive weapons to throw at Wall to make it a real grind on him especially if it's the 2nd round and he's taken a beating physically through the first round.
Or Brad will challenge Wall to beat us himself which we'll win too.

I'd be pretty confident as long as we are fully healthy.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

If we don't have another offensive weapon other than IT4 I am not confident at all. The last game we played the (the funeral game) they made IT's life very uncomfortable with the way they played him. I just don't see Horford stepping up - he seems to miss bunnies when we need them. Or Jae I don't see hitting that important shot. The only guy I see that will take and maybe make that shot is Smart. He has the winning, killing ability. Of course if AB is healthy and playing and gets back to his early season self we at least have a great 2-way threat. We need to shut down Beal and between Smart & AB maybe we can do that. I don't see PG or Butler walking through the door at 3pm.

The way I look at it, they only have a slight advantage at one position, PG. Our PG is a little spitfire dynamic scoring machine, but his disadvantages are highlighted by being guarded by a guard like Wall. Granted we would stick Bradley or Smart on Wall on the defensive end, but going against Wall or Beal's size would represent the exact type of player IT wouldn't want to go up against.

PF would be a struggle for us, but the other 3 positions we have an advantage. Bradley > Beal, Crowder > Porter (slightly) and Horford >Gortat.

Our bench is also better. But it would be a tough series.

Of course not, they'll fly directly to Toronto for the game tomorrow  ;D
