 The price on Brook Lopez has dropped, league sources say. Instead of two first-rounders, word is Brooklyn would accept a first and a second.

If he keeps getting cheaper maybe I think about that deal.

In all seriousness, Lopez is about the last thing our roster needs right now and would also kill our cap space this summer. If we didn't go after Ibaka (or Cousins for that matter), I don't see a world where we chase Brook.

They still want a lottery pick in the 2017 draft ... Also Im sure they would never make another deal with Boston again no matter what the compensation was ....

He certainly does fit the floor spreader type big that Ainge said is all that they consider. They (Stevens especially) value that over rebounding.

For me, it's the same rationale as for wanting Melo.

Veteran, Spreads the floor, comes cheap. (i.e. no BK picks, and no IT/Horford/Bradley/Smart/Crowder/Brown).

They also kill our FA flexibility.

I'd definitely think about it. Pairs well with Horford/Olynyk. Slows us down, though.

That's the Brooklyn 1st in 2018.  The Memphis pick is in 2019 (or later).  I'd pass on that deal in a second.  I don't think it'd be a good fit on the court, and it's pricey in terms of assets (a top 5 pick), and opportunity cost this summer.

Brooklyn would happily accept a mid 2017 1st rounder at this point.  A top 5 2018 pick?  No way.

From Doolittle's commentary, the proposed trade is for Brooklym's 2018 pick.  Also, we don't own Memphis' 2018 first.  The earliest that pick can convey is 2019.  No way I give up a Brooklyn pick for Lopez.

Imagine if, instead of Amir and Zeller, we had a large body who could also actually hit threes and block shots.

Sure, he's a big, plodding guy. He also spaces the floor and clogs the paint on D. I don't love him, but let's not pretend he's be a downgrade from our current bigs. He doesn't solve our glaring rebounding weakness and that's why I wouldn't fall over myself trying to trade for him.

Still. If we did nothing but this trade for lack of opportunity, we would come out as an improved team without tanking our future.
