I'd be interested at the right price. He'd be a pretty decent fit at the 4 next to Al. And Utah has had interest in KO in the past.

I'm looking at it the other way.

Favors being shopped, aka "odd man out".

They will keep Hayward this summer and extend him.

Our FA options now are down to Millsap, Ibaka, Noel..  :( (*maybe* Griffin)

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Great player but doesnt fit with Horford.
Horford restricts our options at PF.

Read that last line again. One more time.

Maybe that's why Ainge strongly prefers to keep the Nets picks.

No.  The Jazz can max Hayward and still be under the cap.  It is related to the fact that Favors doesn't add much to their team, and they'd like to improve it.  Trading Favors would put them under the salary floor next season, so it has nothing to do with having money for Hayward.

But the Jazz would love to send Favors here to prevent us from having the room for Hayward.

Unless he's permanently lost a step or the price is very high, I'd go after Favors in a heartbeat. He's been a steady 16/8 with excellent defense for years, he's only 25, and he's under contract for another year at $12M. We also need rebounding and rim protection. You're upgrading the 4 spot at both ends of the floor, and letting Amir play more against backups. You can play KO or Jerebko more when the matchup dictates.

Suppose we can get him for Zeller, Rozier and a future 1st.
Suppose we win the staring contest for Butler and get him for Bradley, Zizic?, BKN 18.

IT / Butler / Crowder / Favors / Horford
Smart / Brown / Jerebko / Amir / KO

That's a hell of a flexible 10 man rotation with a lot of good defenders on top of improved offense. Especially if Love is out long enough to get us home court, we're a serious contender.

I'm not especially interested in Favors, but I wonder how outlandish the price would be on Gobert...

Absurdly high. Wouldn't be available.

Is a higher impact piece than Cousins.

I wouldn't mind Favors if we could get him for something like Amir and Jerebko or (olynyk if we must) plus a couple non BRK picks.

He fills a couple needs for us. He is a good defender, is very long, likes to bang inside, and is a good rebounder. The only part that would scare me is having him defend the perimeter with Horford. Neither is exactly mobile at containing switches,
