First here is the trade idea through the ESPN trade machine :

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=zo5uz4k

BOS : Gets Jimmy Butler, MWC from CHI
         Gets Richaun Holmes from PHI.
CHI : Gets AB and Zeller + BKN 17 + MEM 1st + Min 2nd from BOS
Gets Okafor and Rodriguez from PHI
PHI :  Gets Rondo and Mirotic from CHI
Gets Mickey and Jackson + BOS 18 (helping CHI gets Okafor) + LAC 17 2nd Rd from BOS.

Here is our potential team :

Thomas  Rozier   MCW
Butler     Smart   Green
Crowder  Brown  Young
Amir       Jerebko Holmes
Horford   Olynyk  Bogut (for a couple of our late 2nd)

This team can compete this year and could take CLE to Game 7.

Now on to the juicy talking points :

Value of BKN 17:

I prefer to keep BKN 18 vs BKN 17 because I am not in love with the fit those two players on this 2017 draft have for our team...

Fultz/Ball: both are great players but not really a position of need for us right now. I feel like paying IT and keeping Smart and seeing another summer of development from Rozier. This would be the same for any other point guard at the top of the draft.

Jackson/Isaac: I actually like those two guys better for us than the point guards. But still, if we can keep Crowder and Brown and trade for Butler as I suggested in my trade (or add FA Hayward), we wont need them as much...

Lauri Markkanen/Justin Patton:  are actually my ideal fits for our team. but again it would be a reach to get those with the BKN 17.

I understand this draft is historically good but I would pass on adding great prospect on a bench full of good prospect and go for the top 10 all NBA starter instead.

PLUS, We have 3 good rookies coming on so really don't need that many rookies on a contender anyways...

Here is what we could look like next year :

Thomas  Rozier   MCW/FA/2nd Rd Draft
Butler     Smart   Young
Crowder  Brown  Nader
Olynyk    Holmes Yabusele
Horford   Zizic  Bogut/Amir/FA/2nd Rd Draft

What do you guys think...??

I hate MCW's game.

I hate MCW's game.

I hear you.
He is an expiring and give us an alternative from our short point guard.
He is a penetrator that can finish in the paint, and a good defender with size.
He is the third string point guard on my roster and frankly I added him to make numbers work but we dont really need him (but at the same time wont be bad to have that security in our back pocket come playoff time just in case...)

I'm on board if the only really top shelf assets we're giving up are AB and Nets 2017 for Butler. The other assets we're sending out are not significant to our long term success IMO. I wonder, though, if we really can accomplish this so cheaply? Interesting proposal. TP
