There are few players I would get angry at the Celtics for acquiring, but Barnes is one of them.

Oh Boy, here we go. Many people commenting on a guy they don't even know. We're weak at the 3, I don't see what would be so horrible to add him for practically nothing (barring some major move by the trade deadline). Despite what many of you think , Players aren't that weak minded whereas if you had a guy who's a "locker room cancer" , it's not going to spread like a virus. Goodness you guys act as if we picked up Barnes then all of a sudden IT will get the "plague" and he won't be able to shoot anymore or many of our other players will start fighting guys who may be banging their ex-wives/girlfriends.

Barnes can play good D and actually get some much need points and bring a bit of toughness to the roster. I can't see how having him come off the bench will "destroy" this team.

Dude is the NBA's most notable goon. He doesn't really play defense very well (unless you count hard fouls) is an incredibly streaky shooter, and overall tends to seek out bad situations.

3P% < 33% [League average is 36%]
DBPM  0.2
TOV% 16.8% [League average is 12.8%]

Hard pass.

You must be young if you think that's an example of someone with "mental issues" or you think that's an example of a guy "destroying" a team. Apparently you've never watched a basketball in the 80's. Dude that's pretty much the equivalent of this play "for your viewing pleasure". So based on your logic I suppose Paul Pierce was a "mental case" , A "locker room cancer" who couldn't win.

Again am I suggesting giving someone up for 36 year old? NO. But if he's there and can be had for nothing, why wouldn't it be beneficial to have a "certified goon" on our roster. Very few players were said to have "mental issues" and be a "cancer"  more than Rasheed Wallace and how did that turn out for us. I'd say pretty darn good came a hair shy of a 2nd title in the 2000s.

It just never ceases to amaze me how generally speaking people on this forum are so opposed to bringing in quality vets. I don't understand how standing pat and relying on young players will bring us a championship. Maybe Barnes may not be the answer but if we are to be realistic in our desire to challenge the Cavs (and toronto) we need another Veteran. Another piece. Jaylen brown is NOT that piece. maybe in 3 years. but now... NO we need a talented veteran SF.

Depends on what you call quality.   I don't think Matt Barnes is a quality human being.   He beats women.

I think it is they are against bringing in a punk.  We don't need guys like this on the team, period.
