Per Stein's twitter feed - Cousin's agent  "Akana: "Under the circumstances ... I would find it highly unlikely DeMarcus would re-sign with a team that trades for him at this point"

I wonder how big a role it played in Danny passing. Why give up a BK pick for a half-season rental?

Owner must have said get rid of Cousins before the deadline because they got a lousy return. My lasting impression of Hield after watching him in person vs the Celts was he couldn't get his shot off whenever Marcus Smart guarded him.

As much as I like Brad Stevens and think he's done a wonderful job with the team, you lost Boogie Cousins cause of him

BRAD STEVENS COST YOU DEMARCUS COUSINS

We don't know that's true.
If it's true, is there a possibility that Stevens is correct?  Or do those who are peeved trust your own BB and Cousins knowledge over the coach's?

I think a little, but given the Pels trade, it wouldn'tve cost us a BK pick. Still, in Bulpetts article on Ainge from yesterday, Ainge made it clear that he wasn't giving up assets for a rental, especially if he could get a Hayward or a Butler or a George longer term.

And Hayward costs us no assets.

NO's next move is a godfather offer to Calipari to be their coach.  Time to go all in.

As others have said, we clearly could have had Cousins if Ainge and Stevens wanted him, so that tells me that either A) we have an even better deal in the works, or B) the C's just didn't think his character issues were worth the headache. I think Ainge deserves a wait-and-see approach by the fan base.

Vomit. Not that I trust Bucher.

That last sentence is KEY.

Ainge, if anything, is overprepared when it comes to trades , with all sorts of permutations of different scenarios covered in advance, so he can react quickly to any eventuality and opportunity that presented itself.

No way that he took his eye off the ball on this.

You know in the past both Cedric Maxwell and Mike Gorman have stated that Cousins was, to be nice, problematic and hinted that the Celtics wouldn't be interested in him for those reasons. Other reports claim Stevens would never want to coach him. IT4, a former team mate and friend of Cousins, who would know what type of problems Cousins brings to the table is now the leader of this team. I am sure he let the franchise know everything he knows about Cousins. Rondo, who I am guessing still has contact with people in Boston, and who was Cousins team mate last year, slammed Cousins last year. I bet people in Boston learned a lot from Rondo about Cousins as well.

Bottom line...this team is well versed in what Cousins has done behind the scenes, what type of character he is, and what problems he would be. They know a lot more than we do and don't just look at Cousins in the typical fantasy basketball fanboy way that many on this site do. There is more to building a winner than putting guys together that hang stats. Personalities, work ethics, coachability and mental preparation and toughness are large factors in building winning teams and the Celtics decided, much like the rest of the league did, that Cousins is sorely lacking in these areas. So they passed on Cousins. I am okay with that.

The Pelicans are now INSTANT contenders up there with the Warriors, Spurs, Rockets and Clippers.

So what's the Pelicans' cap space situation?
Can they go after Chris Paul in free agency ?
