I'd give my left nut as part of the deal if it means we get cousins.  C'mon Danny!

I've had 4 kids....don't plan on having any more......oh what the heck...me too!

Appreciate both of you as fellow human beings, but I'd hand over all 4 of your nuts for Boogie.

I'd hope I'd at least get a TP out of it. ;D

They aren't dealing him guys...  :(

Even Woj has changed tunes...

Apparently that meeting happened a while ago, though.

This is 100% true. That meeting happened a while ago

Sounds like there's a lot of disagreement in the ownership about whether Cousins is really worth $200+ million.

Important to understand: much like the fanbase, ownership isn't 100% united on an extension. 200 mil is a lot of $. Of course Vlade listens.

Vlade has been "assured" he has full control of the Cousins trade situation, but CD is saying it'll pretty much take a Godfather offer for Vlade to move him.

Oh wow, now Woj is reporting that it's actually Vivek who is unsure of that big of a commitment to Cousins financially. That's actually a really good sign that a trade could actually be possible.

Sources: Kings owner Vivek Ranadive's waffling on long-term commitment to Cousins has opened door to trade talks. He's gone back and forth.

If Cousins gets dealt somewhere else--and we end up with only PJ Tucker...I might commit suicide this Friday.

Why Friday? Just in case you are not joking, PLEASE DO NOT DO IT!!!

all this means is that Vlade is leaking other talks to leverage Danny.

Danny is the one he is seriously negotiating with. All the other are fall back positions used to get Danny up.

Well that NO leak doesn't help his leverage any, that reported offer is terrible. If you're going to leak a rumor for leverage, at least say that you were offered Anthony Davis or something great.

One thing we have learned from trade deadlines in the past few years is, that once trade offers hit the rumor mill that the public sees, they are old and likely already dead or waaaayyy past that point in the negotiations. Since we are hearing this now, the Celtics are likely well into talks with the Kings on Cousins.

Or want nothing to do with him whatsoever.
which would just be silly nonsense.  If they are actually considering Hield, this years picks and a future pick from New Orleans, they are basically giving him away.  You can top that easily if you are Boston, and Cousins is the one guy available that could actually make Boston a threat to the top tier teams.

From our very own front page:

Quote
ESPN’s Zach Lowe had the following to say about the situation (as transcribed by Jay King):

"I don't think Brad Stevens wants to touch DeMarcus Cousins with a 10-foot pole. And that carries a lot of weight there. Not only that, they just signed a center. And they think Al Horford is a center, and will play more center as pieces come and go in Boston. And so I don't know what that does to Boston's hunger to acquire a superstar big man who is going to be a locker room question mark."

After some talk about Isaiah Thomas' relationship with Cousins, a former teammate, Lowe concluded: "Right now I would lean Danny Ainge is a maybe, the Celtics overall are a no."

Suddenly Stevens has this much pull?  Didn't Danny say no to Melo even though Stevens would like to have Melo?

Isaiah has been recruiting Cousins for over a year now.  If IT sings Cousins praise and Stevens (likely) value IT's opinion, why would Stevens not want Cousins?
the bolded proves nothing.

I find it unlikely that the Ainge goes in on a big move without both him and brad being in favor.

Its entirely possible Brad said no to Cousins and said he wants Melo. Ainge took this and crossed Cousins off his list, but decided that he didnt want Melo. Thus neither deal was done.

At that point, I would consider firing Stevens if I were Ainge. You dont pass on a talent like Cousins.
Im sure Ainge values Brad opinion and if he was already a "maybe" as Lowe speculates, having your head coach advise against it could tip the scales to a "no".

Im sure Brad would not refuse to coach Cousins.

  • Let's Go Celtics!
Just continuing to play devil's advocate... I wonder if we're the "front office" mentioned in Kevin Aronovitz's profile:
Quote
But an asset as valuable as Cousins requires constant due diligence by NBA front offices. One such team meets from time to time to view game film of Cousins, and those watching are tantalized by what they see -- the agility combined with force, the soft touch, the capacity to either bully or dance around any profile of defender, big or small. Yet each time they evaluate whether it's worth mobilizing the organization's assets to make a push to acquire Cousins, they return to the same dilemma.

When this front office breaks down a Cousins game, it invariably finds half a dozen possessions per game when he sabotages the Kings. Sometimes it's not getting back on defense because he has overdramatized a fall on a drive. Sometimes it's an ill-advised shot early in the possession whose only explanation is acting out against a noncall or an incorrect call. Sometimes it's a missed opportunity for a teammate because Cousins has clearly broken off a play.

This team needs no further persuasion on Cousins' skill set. It's reasonably assured he's a good-hearted person who has manageable behavioral issues that fall within the bounds of the normal human experience. But it's not sure it wants to pay the Cousins tax -- that 6 or 7 percent of possessions that not only take a team out of its offensive or defensive rhythm but whose negative outcomes can crush its collective spirit.

We can also pretend that KO is European and throw him in the deal. Vlade will definitely go for it then.

can someone post the significance of the left nut. Why is it always the left one? What if Vlade wants the right? Come on Clench.. don't be so picky.

One right back at yah. Would be great to get Boogie. About the only guy I would consider the BKN picks for.
